NASCAR veteran Kenny Wallace has praised fellow former driver Greg Biffle for his heroic efforts following Hurricane Helene.
Hurricane Helene has become one of the deadliest US hurricanes since 2000. The storm has caused heavy rain and flooding, leading to the death of over 165 people in states like Florida, Georgia, Virginia, and North Carolina. In response to the disaster, Biffle has used his private helicopter to deliver supplies to people stranded in Western North Carolina. Recently, he also posted a video helping those in hard-to-reach areas.
Kenny Wallace spoke in praise of Biffle and thanked him for his efforts in a video posted on October 3.
"Greg Biffle is incredible. He's doing this on his own. He's got an incredible machine shop. This is a guy that is just awesome. Thank you Biff, for what you're doing. You're a badass. Ain't nobody better than you right now, and you landing that helicopter down in those woods just shows everybody that while you were such a great race car driver," Wallace said.
Wallace also mentioned how Biffle helped during a previous hurricane in Florida by gathering supplies on his own.
"I saw Biff get his pickup truck and some trailer all on his own, and he gathered, uh, some wood and, uh, you know, all the materials he needed. And he said, 'I'm just headed south to see who I can help,'" he added (00:42).
Biffle is being joined by other drivers and teams in NASCAR helping with Hurricane Helene relief.
Hendrick Motorsports and Joe Gibbs Racing are also using their helicopters for relief efforts. Meanwhile, Michael Jordan and 23XI Racing have made a $1 million donation to help out in North Carolina.
Greg Biffle shares his canyon rescue efforts
Former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle has also been documenting his rescue efforts on social media.
In a post on October 3, the 57-year-old was seen helping someone stuck at the bottom of a canyon. Biffle also described the difficult landing that took six attempts.
"The mirror that caught our attention well over a mile away. Only way we were able to find someone stranding in the mountains at bottom of steep canyon. Six attempts to land due to difficulty but we got there – got him a chainsaw, Epipens, insulin, chicken food, formula, gas, 2 stroke oil, and sandwiches premade from Harris Teeter before we left," he wrote.
Greg Biffle is a former NASCAR Xfinity and Truck Series champion, with 19 wins in the Cup Series over 16 years. He was also named one of NASCAR’s 75 Greatest Drivers last year.
