AJ Allmendinger on returning to Cup Series in 2025
After ending his first stint in the NASCAR Cup Series in 2018, Allmendinger signed a five-race deal to drive for Kaulig Racing in the Xfinity Series in 2019. The deal turned out to be much more significant for both parties as it led to Allmendinger's return to the Cup Series in 2021.
Following his impressive performances, AJ Allmendinger was given a full-time ride in the Cup Series in 2023. This was all while the 43-year-old driver fulfilled his Xfinity Series commitments, finishing inside the top-10 in all three full seasons with Kaulig Racing. After yet another brilliant Xfinity season in 2024, which saw him reach the Xfinity Series Championship 4 field, Dinger is set to yet again make his full-time Cup return in 2025.
As he prepares to return, Allmendinger has a major job to do within the Kaulig Racing camp as the team continues to endure a tumultuous period on the track. Reflecting on his upcoming return, Allmendinger said in a recent interview with Forbes:
"We can get our organization back in the right direction. We took a step back on the Cup side. We can go into the offseason and reset. Kaulig Racing with Matt Kaulig and Chris Rice are making great moves to make our competition better. It will be good for us to settle down and rebuild the racecars to get us where we need to be."
AJ Allmendinger will drive the No. 16 Chevrolet for Kaulig Racing next season.
