On the occasion of Father's Day, AJ Allmendinger's wife Tara posted a series of pictures of the #16 Kaulig Racing driver and their nine-month-old son, Aero. The father-son duo celebrated their first Father's Day together.
AJ Allmendinger and Tara tied the knot in December 2019 at Murray's Mill in Catawba, North Carolina. The couple welcomed their first child, Aero James Allmendinger, last year in September.
In a recent post on Instagram, Tara shared heartfelt moments of AJ Allmendinger and their son for Father's Day. She wrote:
"Happy first Father’s Day to @aj_allmendinger_official! You are such a wonderful dad and supportive partner. I love you so much and I love raising Aero James with you. #happyfathersday #ajallmendinger #racetracklife #firstfathersday #aerojames #numberonedad❤️"

A day before the occasion of Father's Day, the #16 Allmendinger made his 15th start of the Xfinity Series schedule. The 42-year-old Allmendinger was a victim of an early setback, a DNF, as Xfinity Series returned to Iowa Speedway for the HyVee Perks 250 event after five years.

Kaulig Racing driver witnessed a setback at Saturday's Xfinity race at Iowa Speedway. Allmendinger's #16 Chevy Camaro's right front tire blew off; as a result, he went straight to the outside wall on lap 34 and drifted out to the grass and out of the Xfinity race.
After AJ Allmendinger was released from the infield care center, the California native talked about his recent setback. Allmendinger said:
"It just blew out. So it was, I was a little bit tight and actually when I ran the bottom, I was tighter. So I thought down there I was hurting the tire more, but I didn't expect to have a right front issue. It wasn't like I was overly tight either. So yeah, just a part of it."
"The whole year's frustrating right now. So all we can do is pick our heads up and get ready again for next week...The only thing that really hurts is, you know, we're just trying to make more speed in our race car. So I'd like to have seen throughout the course of the day where we could have made it where that would have put us," Allmendinger added.
The #16 driver currently sits at P8 in the overall Cup Series standings. He has three top-5s and seven top-10s after 15 starts in the 2024 Xfinity season.
