With six races remaining in the 2024 Xfinity Series regular season, AJ Allmendinger is still fighting for his first win of the year. Ahead of the Cabo Wabo 250 race on August 17th, his wife, Tara Allmendinger, shared a lighthearted meme on social media, likely aiming to ease the pressure on the Kaulig Racing driver.
AJ Allmendinger, a NASCAR veteran with 17 Xfinity and 3 Cup Series victories, is considered one of the sport's most talented drivers. However, the Californian racer has been unable to win a race this year. Currently ninth in the playoff standings, Allmendinger will be eager to secure his first win to solidify his position.
His wife, Tara Allmendinger, recently shared a marriage-related meme on her Instagram story. Here's a look at the post:
Allmendinger first met Tara Meador in 2015 during the Indianapolis 500 race weekend. Since then, the former American beauty pageant winner has been constantly supporting the #16 driver through the ups and downs of his NASCAR career. After dating for about four years, the couple tied the knot in December 2019.
On September 8th, 2023, AJ and Tara Allmendinger welcomed their first son, Aero James. Apart from their son, the couple also has a French bulldog named Xena.
A brief look at AJ Allmendinger's 2024 NASCAR Xfinity season so far, along with his chances of competing in the Playoffs
Despite being a top-five contender in both the 2021 and 2022 Xfinity Series seasons, AJ Allmendinger had a dismal start for the 2024 Xfinity Series season. As mentioned earlier, the Kaulig Racing driver has not been able to win a race this year.
The 42-year-old began the year with three Top 10 finishes (tenth at Daytona, sixth at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and tenth at Circuit of The Americas) in the first five races. Since then, the California-based racer has managed to grab seven more Top 10s and three Top 5 finishes.
The highlights of Allmendinger's 2024 season were the races at Nashville Superspeedway, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Pocono Raceway, Las Vegas, COTA, and Charlotte Motor Speedway, where he accumulated 48, 45, 42, 42, 38, and 38 points, respectively.
With a total of 609 points so far, AJ Allmendinger currently stands in sixth position in the driver's table, behind the likes of Cole Custer, Justin Allgaier, Austin Hill, Chandler Smith, and Riley Herbst.
As for his chances in the 2024 playoffs, Allmendinger currently sits ninth in the standings, a comfortable 102 points above the cut line. With six races left in the regular season, a victory would solidify his playoff berth, but his strong points position gives him a reasonable cushion.
