Ahead of the Toyota/Save Mart 350 weekend at Sonoma Raceway, Bubba Wallace had a meet-and-greet moment with a four-legged fan. 23XI Racing's Wallace shared an adorable video on his social media handle, showing him with a fan who is also named Bubba.
In a recent post on Instagram, Wallace encountered a couple of fans who brought their dog with them to this adorable interaction. Interestingly, the four-legged fan of the #23 driver was also named 'Bubba'. However, the dog parent claimed that the name wasn't related to the Cup Series driver, it was a mere coincidence.
"All Bubba's [sic] are welcome at meet and greets," captioned Wallace on his post.
Here's a glimpse of the fan moment posted by f1nascarfanatic on Instagram:
In 2018, Wallace became the first African-American driver to compete full-time in the Cup Series since Wendall Scott in 1971. This happened when Wallace drove the #43 Chevy for Richard Petty Motorsports.
He became the only African-American driver to win more than once in any of NASCAR's three National Series. The 30-year-old is one of the most successful African-American NASCAR drivers in the sport's rich history.
Apart from his on-track performance, Wallace was also in the limelight when he joined NBA Legend Michael Jordan and NASCAR veteran Denny Hamlin-owned team in 2021. He now drives the #23 Toyota Camry for 23XI Racing.
Bubba Wallace made his debut in NASCAR for Kyle Busch Motorsports in 2013, competing as a full-time driver in the Truck Seris.
After his stint in the Truck Seris for two years, Wallace moved up the division. He made his mark in the Xfinity Series, driving for the Roush Fenway Racing (now called RFK Racing) in 2015. He is now in his fourth season with 23XI Racing.
Bubba Wallace's career in the Cup Series for 23XI Racing
Bubba Wallace was the first driver that the 23XI Racing announced for the #23 Toyota in the 2021 season. He has a total of two Cup Series wins in his career, both of them for the 23XI team.
In 2021, Wallace secured the first win of his career on his home track at Talladega Superspeedway after a rain-shortened race. In September 2022, the Alabama native celebrated at the victory lane for the second time at Kansas Speedway by leading the final 67 laps.
Last year, Wallace had a winless season for the first time since his first win in Talladega in 2021. However, he managed into the playoffs by securing five top-fives and 10 top-10 finishes and placed himself 10th in the final standings.
Currently, #23 Toyota driver Wallace is at P13 in the overall Cup Series standings. He has three top-fives and five top-10s after 15 starts in the regular season.
As NASCAR heads towards the Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Road course, Wallace is on a hunt for his maiden win in the 2024 season. He has a chance to confirm his berth in the playoffs.
