NASCAR fans have reacted to Jeb Burton's thoughts on the announcement regarding Harrison Burton's exit from Wood Brothers Racing in 2025. Jeb, the driver of the number 27 Chevrolet for Jordan Anderson Racing, and Harrison are cousins.
Harrison Burton will be replaced by Josh Berry, who currently drives the #4 Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing. As Stewart-Haas Racing is shutting down its Cup Series program next year, Berry's move was anticipated. This year, Berry replaced Kevin Harvick behind the wheel of the #4 machine as the latter retired from full-time racing and joined the FOX Sports booth as a NASCAR analyst.
However, Jeb Burton is sure that his cousin will soon land a ride. According to the Chevy star, a career in NASCAR is one of the hardest dreams that someone could pursue. Reflecting on the same, the JAR driver wrote on X:
"Racing can be brutal sometimes one of the hardest careers and dreams you can chase. Today is a hard day for my little cousin and family. He will land on his feet. He has won races winning 1 NASCAR race is more than hundreds of drivers can ever say. Keep digging @HBurtonRacing."
Several fans reacted to Jeb's post, with one suggesting that Harrison has the financial backing needed to land a ride in the arena of NASCAR.
"All about the money," the fan wrote.
Another fan shared a screenshot showing Harrison Burton's father, Jeff Burton's net worth (as reported by Celebrity Net Worth) and wrote:
"This helps."
Here are a few more reactions to Jeb Burton's post:
"He's got Dex Images as sponsor he'll get a ride. He brings money with him," a fan said.
"A Jordan Anderson team with two Burton cousins racing would be pretty awesome," said another.
"Love to see y’all’s family sticking together still hoping to see the both of you win this season!🙏🏁👍🏻😉" a fan added.
Harrison Burton is currently 31st in the NASCAR Cup Series standings with 217 points to his name. Spire Motorsports speedster Zane Smith is the only full-time NASCAR Cup Series driver who is behind Burton on points.
As reported by Yahoo Sports, Burton's average finish has dropped from 22.8 last year to 26.7 this year. Furthermore, he has just one top-10 performance this season.
"This is not an excuse for us to lay down and die," Harrison Burton reacts to the news of his replacement
Harrison Burton is aiming at getting Wood Brothers Racing, who have an alliance with Team Penske, their 100th win at Chicago, Illinois next week. NASCAR will host its 20th race of the season, the Grant Park 165, on the Chicago road course on July 7. Burton insisted that the news of his replacement has not been a hindrance in his pursuit of achieving the milestone for his team.
"Definitely full steam ahead. Still working hard, trying to make the best out of the opportunity we have," the Huntersville native said. "Whatever comes in the future just can move on and keep going and still have a great relationship with those guys and everything they’ve done for me."
Although not happy about the news, Burton knows that this is how the business works. He even mentioned that while the announcement of his replacement was being made, he was at the shop discussing strategies for the upcoming race.
"Never news you wanna hear as a race car driver, but at the end of the day, that's how this business works," he explained. "We need to put that behind us and we still have a great opportunity to go try and get the Wood Brothers their 100th win this season."
"But this is not an excuse for us to lay down and die. We’re going to go down swinging," he added.
Watch Harrison Burton in the second edition of Chicago's street race exclusively on NBC Sports and Peacock from 4:30 pm (ET) onwards. Fans can also listen to live radio updates on MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
