Fans called NASCAR out after their alleged involvement in the Brickyard 400 race finish that came under caution at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway after Kyle Larson won the anti-climactic and eventful race at NASCAR's 30th-anniversary race at Indianapolis.
Larson cashed in the opportunity to take the victory after Brad Keselowski moved to pit lane after he ran out of fuel at the last moment. However, before this, a multi-car wreck brought the race to its first overtime, and soon after, the second overtime was followed.
Once the restart took place, Larson powered himself to the race lead, only to witness Ryan Preece on the wall. However, the Stewart-Haas Racing driver failed to move despite returning to the track.
Preece's car came to a halt on the track and brought the caution with one lap to go. However, it was already too late for others to try as Kyle Larson secured his fourth win of the season.
Interestingly, fans did not appreciate this and shared their reactions online. They believed that a caution should have been called, followed by another restart.
Here's how NASCAR fans reacted:
A fan wrote calling the race fixed, "Another fixed race for yung money!"
Another fan called it a rigged race, "At least make it less obvious when you’re going to rig a race."
"Y’all had to much time to throw the caution. So fixed man," wrote another fan.
One of the fans called the race rigged, writing "Another rigged race."
A fan called Kyle Larson NASCAR's golden boy, saying "Undeserved let’s take away his waiver. Oh wait they won’t cause it’s NASCAR’s new golden boy."
"Yall are a joke," wrote another fan calling NASCAR a joke.
Kyle Larson hinted at an IndyCar appearance following the Brickyard 400 win
Following his magnificent victory at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Kyle Larson hinted at an IndyCar appearance up next. In a post-race interview, the Hendrick Motorsports driver asked the Indianapolis fans if they wanted to see the #5 driver behind the wheel of an IndyCar.
"This is just such a prestigious place, such hallowed ground. Pretty neat to get an opportunity to race here on the oval again. What a job by our team. I mean, we never gave up at all. We had the pit stop issue there early on."
"Just fought and dug and had things work out. I love you, Indiana fans. I know you guys love me, too. How about we come back next May and try to kiss these bricks in an IndyCar?"
With this win, Kyle Larson further extended his lead in the regular NASCAR championship and became the first driver to claim four wins in 2024
