Within the NASCAR community, William Byron is known to have dated Ryan Blaney's sister, Erin. However, rumors suggest the two split privately, ending a four-year relationship that started in 2019.
Byron is a 27-year-old professional stock car racer driving the No. 24 Chevrolet Camaro for Hendrick Motorsports. Meanwhile, Erin Blaney is a 27-year-old entrepreneur who serves as the executive director at her brother's trust, the Ryan Blaney Family Foundation.
The split rumor began when Byron and Blaney unfollowed each other on social media earlier this year. While the rumor is not yet confirmed, some suggest Ryan Blaney winning the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series championship was among the reasons for the breakup.
For context, Ryan Blaney and William Byron qualified for the Championship 4 last year. The two battled for the title at Phoenix Raceway but the HMS driver came up short in P4.
Another possible proposed reason for the split was influenced by Ryan Blaney and Gianna Tulio's engagement last year. Erin and Byron started dating around the same time, if not earlier, than Blaney and Gianna yet the No. 24 driver hadn't proposed to her.
During Blaney and Tulio's marriage in Aspen, Colorado this month, Byron wasn't spotted in attendance despite some NASCAR drivers joining the celebration. These include Bubba Wallace, Chase Elliott, and Dale Earnhardt Jr.
But then again, the two remain mum regarding their relationship status.
The last time the two had a post together on social media was in November 2023 when Byron entered the championship race at Phoenix Raceway.
“Caught willy b in 24k”: NASCAR fans reacted to William Byron's comment on an influencer's post
Last October, William Byron was caught commenting 'Hi' on a post from social media influencer Estelle Lebourgeois, suggesting the driver could be single. NASCAR fans didn't let it slide and had hilarious reactions to the comment.
One fan commented on X (formerly Twitter) that Byron was caught in "24k", a reference to the 'caught in 4K' slang phrase but used 24 because it is the driver's racing number.
Another posted an F1-inspired photo and left a comment for the Hendrick Motorsports star.
"Simp of the day," the post read.
One X user told the driver to focus on the championship considering the penultimate race at Martinsville Speedway was next on the calendar.
"bro you’re in the middle of a championship run right now LOCK THE F*CK IN."
Below are the few other fan reactions to the comment:
"william byron is a cartoon character and there's nothing that can convince me otherwise" a X user said.
"damnit william think about the championship" another fan suggested.
"William Byron, whose rizzing career started on a computer," an X user wrote, a reference to his early career.
Byron reached the final four this year after a dramatic finish at Martinsville Speedway with Christopher Bell. However, he lost the championship to Joey Logano after finishing third behind Ryan Blaney.
