Whitney Dillon, wife of NASCAR driver Austin Dillon, recently shared a throwback picture of her as a cheerleader on social media. Before marrying the Richard Childress Racing driver Dillon, Whitney was the former cheerleader for an NFL team.

Dillon first met Whitney in 2015 and dated for almost a year before the #3 Chevy driver popped the question while on a trip to the Bahamas in August 2016. The couple then exchanged vows before the 2018 NASCAR season at Childress Vineyards in Lexington, North Carolina on December 9, 2017. It is also worth mentioning that, the 34-year-old Dillon then claimed the season-opener victory at the 2018 Daytona 500 event.

"That's what sold my mom on her" - Austin Dillon on admiration of her wife

In a 2020 interview, Austin Dillon recalled a moment with Whitney, who had less of an idea about racing, but still admired her.

Speaking with Lindsay Czarniak, a sports anchor and reporter, Austin Dillon said (10:44):

"I just thought it was cool, you know, and she's a cheerleader, I get heart. So, like the first night, I was sixteenth in that race. I was kind of bombed after, and she was like, ‘Man, I wanted to get on that radio and tell you, ‘Let’s go! You’re doing good!' That's what sold my mom on her [that] she [Whitney] was pumped about a race."

The Welcome, North Carolina native comes from a racing family. He is the grandson of NASCAR legend and the owner of RCR, Richard Childress. Dillon also has a younger brother, Ty Dillon, who competes full-time in the Truck Series and part-time in Cup Seris for Kaulig Racing. Both Austin and Ty are the son of Mike Dillon, a former NASCAR driver and the general manager of RCR.

Austin Dillon pilots the famed #3 Chevy, which was famously driven by the legendary NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt in which the latter won the Cup Series championship six out of seven times.

Dillon currently stands at P32 in the 2024 overall points table. After 22 starts, he has accumulated only two top-10 finishes. Dillon, who was the 2011 Truck Series champion and 2013 Xfinity Series champion is still struggling to make his mark after he transitioned to the NASCAR's premier division.
