Kyle Larson reacts to securing pole position at Iowa
As NASCAR gears up for the 17th Cup Series race at Iowa Speedway, Hendrick's star Kyle Larson bagged the pole position at the inaugural Cup race at Iowa Speedway.
In an interview, Larson talked about his experience after the qualifying session at Iowa. He said (via NASCAR):
"It was challenging, for sure. It wasn’t as challenging as I was expecting. I had just watched everybody and everybody looked really loose and on edge. I just tried to be under the edge a little," Larson said.
"My lap felt fairly smooth, a little edgy, but nothing as bad as I was expecting. It helps going out last, it helps being able to watch everybody. Got to talk with Cliff (Daniels, crew chief) before I go out too is beneficial. Happy to get the pole," he added.
Currently, Kyle Larson sits at the top of the Cup Series overall standings. With three wins in the 2024 season, Larson has confirmed his spot in the playoffs. Furthermore, he has seven top-fives and eight top-ten finishes after 15 starts in the current season.
