RFK Racing driver and co-owner Brad Keselowski has expressed his disappointment after losing Sunday’s rain-shortened Coca-Cola 600 to Christopher Bell. Keselowski has been performing well and was in contention for his second back-to-back points-paying win before the weather delay.

Keselowski feels that his #6 RFK Racing Ford was capable of winning at Charlotte Motor Speedway, as he had grabbed the lead from Bell twice during the 249 of 400 laps. He was gutted at the early conclusion of the race, which prevented him from having the opportunity to fully challenge for the win.

Speaking to FOX Sports’ Bob Pockrass about his P2 finish in the rain-shortened race at Charlotte, Keselowski said:

“It’s pretty disappointing. I felt like we had a car to win the race. We kind of ran down the 20-car [Christopher Bell] twice and just didn’t get to see it play out. So, it kind of slipped through our fingers there. I would have liked to have just had more laps and ran the Coke 600.”

Bell was able to hold off Keselowski during a 10-lap run after a caution for Corey LaJoie’s spin in Turn 2 on Lap 229, and he was the leader through 246 laps before the rain arrived, bringing a premature end to the prestigious crown jewel event.

After rain soaked the Charlotte track and high humidity prevented track crews from making progress drying the track, NASCAR decided to called the race and declared Bell the winner of the 2024 Coca-Cola 600 as half of the race was completed. Keselowski finished runner-up, his third of the season.

Brad Keselowski is happy with his team’s performance at Charlotte

The Darlington winner started the Charlotte race in 30th position and worked his way up with speed and pit cycles. He finished eighth and fifth in Stage 1 and Stage 2, respectively.

Despite not being able to have more laps to compete, Brad Keselowski was happy with the #6 Ford’s speed and the exceptional performance of his pit crew.

Further in the interview, Keselowski said:

“But all in all, I’m really happy with our performance. The car was really fast. Our pit stops were phenomenal. We just didn’t get to see it through. I’m bummed for our team. I’m bummed for everybody, but the weather is what the weather is.”

Brad Keselowski currently sits ninth in the Cup Series points table, with 397 points after 14 races.
