Longtime rumors of Brad Keselowski’s RFK Racing team adding a third charter for the 2025 season have now been confirmed. Ryan Preece will join Keselowski and Chris Buescher next year in the NASCAR Cup Series. This will be the first time since 2016 that RFK will have three full-time drivers in the Cup Series.
Roush Fenway Keselowski (RFK) Racing announced plans to lease a charter from Rick Ware Racing for Preece’s No. 60 car on November 19. Preece was left searching for a ride after Stewart-Haas Racing closed its four-car team at the end of the 2024 season. RFK Racing announced on X (formerly Twitter):
"It's been a long time coming. 😏🛒 Kroger, the No. 60, and Ryan Preece are all headed to RFK Racing for 2025."
Preece is a former NASCAR Modified Series champion, who has driven for Stewart-Haas Racing and JTG Daugherty Racing in the past. Preece has four top-5 finishes and 16 top-10 finishes in 187 starts in the Cup Series.
The new No. 60 car will be sponsored by Kroger, which has been with JTG Daugherty Racing for over 15 years. Erin Sanchez, Kroger's Vice President of Grocery Merchandising, said in a press release that they are excited to work with RFK Racing and help all the brands involved in their racing program.
"The Kroger Racing program and collaboration with participating brands has been a successful staple in Kroger’s portfolio for more than a decade. We’re very excited to be teaming up with RFK Racing and know having three drivers as members of the Kroger Racing Family will be an added benefit for all our brand sponsors involved in the program," Sanchez said.
Kroger will sponsor all three RFK drivers during the 2025 season along with other brands.
"The day has finally come. It's a real shocker" - Brad Keselowski makes a special announcement
Brad Keselowski, the co-owner of RFK Racing, made a special tongue-in-cheek announcement for Fox Sports' Bob Pockrass who previously asked him about the third team.
"Bob, I've got a special announcement just for you. I know you've been waiting, you've been asking. So, here it is. Our surprise announcement. The day has finally come. It's a real shocker. The 60 car's back full time, 2025. Ryan Preece and Kroger on the car. I know you didn't see that coming. But Bob, thanks for being patient," Keselowski said.
Keselowski became a co-owner of the team in 2021 after leaving Team Penske. The No. 6 Ford driver ended a 110-race winless streak this year with a win at Darlington and finished 13th in the standings.
Chris Buescher, driver of the No. 17 Mustang for RFK Racing, won four races in the last two seasons but missed the 2024 playoffs.
