RFK Racing co-owner Brad Keselowski refused to speak about the possibility of adding a third charter to the team. Reports claimed that the team is looking forward to getting a third charter and signing Stewart-Haas Racing driver Ryan Preece.
While the team has not confirmed any of the reports, sources including The Athletic reported that the team will expand to three charters in the next season. However, when NASCAR journalist Bob Pockrass attempted to inquire the same from Keselowski, he did not answer directly. He instead replied "coming soon."
Pockrass asked:
"Any news on having a third car next year, potentially Ryan Preece driving it?"
To which Keselowski replied:
"Not today Bob! Coming soon."
Preece is the only Stewart-Haas Racing driver who does not have a seat for 2025. Earlier this season, the team announced their decision to cease their Cup Series operations at the end of 2024. While the other drivers have signed deals with various teams, Preece has yet to find one. Signing with RFK could give him a new start.
At the same time, co-owner and 2012 Cup Series champion Brad Keselowski has refused to discuss the team's expansion plans publicly.
"Nothing publicly that I’m ready to talk about" - Brad Keselowski on team's reported expansion plans
Despite the high possibility of the team expanding to three charters and signing Ryan Preece, Brad Keselowski has refused to speak about any such announcements in public.
Speaking with The Athletic recently, Keselowski shared that RFK Racing does not have any announcement ready. At the same time, however, he hinted about an announcement "next month."
"We don’t have any announcements that we’re ready to make, but hopefully we’ll have something to share with everybody here in the next month or so," Keselowski claimed. "But nothing publicly that I’m ready to talk about."
Keselowski joined the team in the 2022 season and has publically talked about expanding the team under the right circumstances. With SHR releasing their charters post this season, it is a good opportunity for the team to sign one of those. Moreover, Preece coming to the team would be a positive addition.
Preece has been battling decently this season. Although he has not claimed many top-10 finishes, he has kept the car running on most tracks. Adding to that was his P4 finish at Nashville Superspeedway.
Scoring consistent points with three charters would be better for RFK especially now considering the sponsors they have. The new charter agreement in 2025 might as well be in favor of the teams and it would also be the perfect time for RFK to claim their third.
