Bubba Wallace playfully nudged Denny Hamlin about when he might be heading down the aisle, following Tyler Reddick's wedding with his longtime girlfriend Alexa DeLeon. Bubba Wallace, who got hitched last year, is soon to be a dad. As the single head honcho of 23XI Racing, worth $60 million, Hamlin is the last bachelor of the bunch.
Denny Hamlin popped the question to his girlfriend of 16 years this past January, amidst years of rumors about their relationship status and following a brief separation in 2021. The couple first crossed paths back in 2007 at a Charlotte Bobcats game where Hamlin was caught off-guard by her charm while she performed as one of the Lady Cats. They have since built a life together, welcoming their daughter, Taylor James, in 2013, and their second daughter, Molly Gold, in 2017.
After a lengthy relationship, the couple has finally decided to tie the knot, though they haven’t set a date yet. Curious about the details, Bubba Wallace took the opportunity to needle his boss while congratulating Tyler Reddick, sharing a photo of the group with the caption:
"Welcome to the married club @TylerReddick 🤝. When’s the wedding @dennyhamlin? 🤵"
The relationship hasn't been without its rocky moments. There was even a time when they split, during which Jordan Fish expressed her frustration with Denny Hamlin publicly. She vented on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “I have been quiet for far too long.. and I have endured things no one person should EVER have to endure, and today was no exception. @dennyhamlin I hope everyone will finally see you for the person you truly are.”
She continued by stating her children deserved better than what Denny Hamlin could offer and expressed relief at not being part of his future. Shortly after posting, her social media account was deleted. Although the couple initially split, they reappeared together at the 2022 NASCAR Awards Banquet, indicating a reconciliation more than a year later.
On a personal level, things seem to have smoothed out for Denny Hamlin, but professionally, he's less than thrilled with the Next Gen cars.
Denny Hamlin discusses the shortcomings of Next Gen cars
On the latest episode of "Actions Detrimental," Denny Hamlin openly criticized the performance of NASCAR's Next Gen cars compared to the Xfinity Series cars. He expressed his frustration about the cars' inability to pass effectively and their poor handling in traffic, stating:
"We all know that these NextGen cars are terrible in traffic. They are the worst cars in NASCAR in traffic. When we designed them, we designed a car that is (the) worst that it's ever been in traffic. [...] I asked them three times before this car came out, 'Are you sure it's right?' In December, before they launched the car they put it on track with another car and see that 'Oh sh*t, we got a problem' No kidding, you got two years to figure this out. God, it's frustrating as hell."
With three wins under his belt this regular season and just four races left, it will be interesting to see if Denny Hamlin can shake off his 'championship-less' status this year.
