Bubba Wallace made his thoughts known on the special Star Wars-themed paint scheme that his No. 23 Toyota Camry will flaunt at Phoenix Raceway this coming weekend. The Alabama native will look forward to “embracing the dark side” with the exclusive Columbia 1938 Darth Vader collection.

Wallace is in his fourth full season driving for 23XI Racing, a two-car Cup Series team owned by Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin and NBA legend Michael Jordan. The 31-year-old speedster finished 18th in his most recent race at Martinsville Speedway and now looks forward to finishing the season strong. Thankfully, Wallace landed just the perfect ride for the job.

Showcasing the same in his latest post on X, Bubba Wallace said,

“Finally found a speeder I really like… with an open cockpit and the right speed capabilities. Embracing the power of the dark side this weekend with the No. 23 Toyota + full race kit inspired by the upcoming @Columbia1938 Vader™️ collection.”

This is not the first time Wallace is going to drive a Star Wars-inspired livery. Last year, the Toyota pilot partnered with Luke Skywalker, AKA Mark Hamill, for the Championship race at Phoenix. He wheeled an iconic “X-Wing” skin while his teammate Tyler Reddick, too, drove a “Tie Fighter” Toyota Camry.

Reddick won at Homestead-Miami Speedway last week and clinched his spot in the final four for the first time in his Cup career. Wallace, however, has not won a single race this year, nor did he make the playoffs. As of today, Wallace sits 17th in points while Reddick is third.

Star Wars sensation Hayden “Darth Vader” Christensen welcomes Bubba Wallace to the dark side

In a recent video by Columbia 1938, Bubba Wallace and Hayden Christensen, best known for playing the role of Darth Vader in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and in the Obi-Wan television series, were seen unveiling the dazzling red-and-black machine. Wallace was driving a car when Christensen drove past and pulled off right in front of him.

Wallace pressed the brakes and hopped off his ride with his eyes fixated on the car’s number plate, which read, “California Vader.” The adjacent shutter was then lifted, revealing Wallace’s newest ride. As Wallace checked the car out, Christensen walked up to him. Handing Wallace a “Darth Vader” helmet, he said,

“Welcome to the dark side.”

Wallace then buckled himself up to his ride and fist-bumped the actor, saying,

“This is where the fun begins!”
“Nice one,” smiled Christensen, before Wallace drove away.

While fans ardently await Lionel Racing to launch diecasts of Bubba Wallace’s cool ride, NASCAR prepares to host arguably the most anticipated race of the season. Fans can watch the 312-lap event live on NBC (November 10, 3 pm ET onwards) or listen to radio updates on MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
