Leading upto the Brickyard 400, Kyle Busch declared a payback was coming the way of Corey LaJoie. Busch had announced "payback's coming" towards "liar" LaJoie while he also gave a nickname to Ricky Stenhouse Jr., a driver he had a run-in with earlier this season. Bubba Wallace's spotter approved of Busch's actions towards LaJoie, in a podcast appearance.

The 2x Cup champion Busch saw his race at Pocono cut short after the Spire Motorsports driver wrecked him. In the immediate aftermath of the incident, Busch remained tight-lipped over LaJoie's actions, later speaking out on the Pat McAfee Show.

Freddie Kraft, Wallace's spotter spoke on this topic recently, on the Door Bumper Clear podcast, saying,

"He talks about naming Ricky Stenhouse, Wrecky Spinhouse, he's talking about throwing haymakers like old school NASCAR days. The only thing I laughed at was when he vowed revenge on Corey LaJoie which you know it means that's not going to ever happen now. But I think it's awesome when our drivers go out on different kinds of platforms and promote the sport and promoting it like this when you get to have a little fun, with the guy getting a little opinionated because he says what he's thinking." However, Busch speaking publicly about payback against LaJoie raised one concern in the opinion of Brett Griffin, on the same episode. The veteran spotter wondered if Busch had $50,000, which is what he suggested would cost him for wrecking another driver after Carson Hocevar's fine from a few weeks ago.

"You called your shot so now are you going to do it? And if you do, you're going to get fined. So I think I'll be curious to see what plays out there," Griffin said.

Bubba Wallace defends Kyle Busch against being called "weak" amid dismal season

With Kyle Busch being NASCAR's most winningest driver who hasn't finished inside the top 5 since Dover in April, a lot of drivers were asked about the state of his season. One of those drivers was Bubba Wallace, who ascribed Busch's struggles to the nature of the sport:

"It's motorsports. It's racing. Endure all the ups most of your time, right? So now you have to endure the downs and you have to learn how to navigate through them," Wallace said.

The 23XI Racing driver mentioned that he has been fortunate enough to have been through both the ups and the downs. Speaking further on Busch, he said he wouldn't call the RCR driver "weak" despite him going through one of the worst, if not the worst, seasons of his Cup career.

Wallace pointed to a similar situation with Joey Logano, who was also being doubted until he ended his dry spell with a win at Darlington.

The 23XI driver said of Busch and Logano that such drivers are "champions for a reason", and should never be counted out.
