Bubba Wallace’s mentee and friend Rajah Caruth let his thoughts known about a paint scheme designed by one of his fans on X, formerly known as Twitter. The livery flaunted the colors of Garner Trucking Inc., an Ohio-based trucking company that debuted with Spire Motorsports back in 2022.

Caruth currently drives the No. 71 entry under the banner of Spire Motorsports in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. A product of NASCAR’s Drive for Diversity program, Caruth won his first race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and thus became the third driver of color to win a national series race after Hall of Famer Wendell Scott and Cup Series regular Bubba Wallace.

Reflecting on how cool the color schemed looked, Caruth wrote,

“Looks good.”

Caruth has been driving the No. 71 for a year now. Notably, 2025 will mark his second straight season with the Chevy team, and also the continuation of his relationship with HendrickCars.com, owned by automotive tycoon and Hendrick Motorsports owner, Rick Hendrick.

Last year, Caruth finished seventh on points, bagging a win, five top-5s, and 12 top-10s on the way. This year, the 22-year-old native of Atlanta, Georgia, will try to win more races and thus, corkscrew himself deeper into the playoffs.

Caruth’s first race of the season is scheduled for February 14, 7:30 pm ET onwards at the famous Daytona International Speedway. Named Fresh From Florida 250, the 100-lap event will stream on Fox Sports 1. Fans can also listen to live radio updates on MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

“It is great to have a home and stability”- Rajah Caruth reflects on his return to Spire Motorsports

For someone as young as Rajah Caruth, getting signed by the same team and the same sponsor is indeed a big deal. What Caruth felt good about is the fact that 2025 is going to be the first time in his career that he won’t have to look for a new team or a new series to compete in.

“It is great to have a home and stability heading into next year,” Caruth said of his upcoming stint with Spire Motorsports (via Forbes). “I believe this is the first time in my career I won’t be with a new team or competing in a different series at the start of the season. I really appreciate the opportunity Jeff (Dickerson, co-owner) and T.J. (Puchyr, co-owner) have given me, and I’m excited to continue preparations for 2025.”
“Our organization has really grown over the past year, and we have shown what we are capable of. We have set the bar high for the season, and the expectation is to win more races and compete for a championship,” he added.

Dickerson is confident that Rajah Caruth is the perfect hire for his team. He said of Caruth,

“I’m impressed with how he’s balanced his commitments to his race team, his craft, the media and his growing fanbase while managing a full workload at Winston-Salem State University. Our organization believes in Raj, and he has consistently shown the leadership, form and work ethic that every team looks for in a driver.”

Although Rajah Caruth will return to Spire in 2025, his former teammate Chase Purdy won’t. This leaves the seat behind the wheel of the No. 77 up for grabs. However, no driver has been tabbed by the North Carolina-based outfit to replace Purdy yet.
