NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace's spotter, Freddie Kraft, recently expressed his views on two Xfinity Series drivers not having a seat in the 2025 NASCAR campaign. Kraft responded to a statement from Frontstretch, claiming that the two drivers deserve a seat in the upcoming season.
Bubba Wallace pilots the #23 Toyotas Camry XSE for 23XI Racing, competing full-time in the Cup Series. He has secured two Cup race wins in his NASCAR career, however, he did not make it to the 2024 playoffs.
With Joe Gibbs Racing announcing the signing of William Sawalich and Taylor Gray into their Xfinity program, current JGR drivers Chandler Smith and Ryan Truex, who have proven their mettle on the track, will reportedly not be able to compete in the Xfinity Series for next year's campaign. Extending on this notion, Wallace's spotter Freddie Kraft wrote a three-word verdict on the same.
"Money > Talent. 👎🏻"
NASCAR is a financially driven sport. Bringing in sponsors to run a team can play a deciding factor in maintaining a career in NASCAR. Chandler Smith, whose racing endeavors are sponsored by his father's construction business, has secured two wins and 15 top-five finishes this season, was interviewed by Fox Sports Bob Pockrass following the end of the playoff race at Homestead, where he shed light on his future in the sport.
"Well, I don’t have a ride next year, Bob. I could be working for my dad’s construction business and I could be hanging it up at the end of this year." Smith said.
Moreover, Ryan Truex, who runs part-time for JGR, has secured two wins in just 11 races in the Xfinity Series. However, he also remains without a ride in 2025.
Meanwhile, Bubba Wallace did not make it to the 2024 Cup Series playoffs after an underwhelming regular season. Although winless this campaign, Wallace has secured six top-five finishes this season. However, Wallace's 23XI Racing teammate Tyler Reddick has advanced to the final four and will compete for the coveted Cup Series title at Phoenix Raceway.
Bubba Wallace's spotter Freddie Kraft comically responds to a fan's comment on Wallace being a 'money over talent' driver
Bubba Wallace's spotter Freddie Kraft responded to a critical fan in the comments of the aforementioned post on X, where the fan called Wallace 'lucky' to have a seat in the NASCAR Cup Series.
According to Kraft, JGR's decision to reportedly not extend Chandler Smith's contract was financially motivated. Meanwhile, a fan in the comments section criticized Wallace and wrote:
"Bubba is literally money over talent. He is lucky nascar didn't even attempt to dry the track at talladega and a kurt injury that allowed him into that car from being winless right now"
Freddie Kraft replied to the fan humorously by sharing a GIF.
The NASCAR Cup Series will return to Martinsville this Sunday for the Xfinity 500 playoff race. Fans can catch the action live on NBC Sports. MRN, and SiriusXM NASCAR Channel at 2:00 PM ET.
