North Wilkesboro Speedway is set to play host to the 2025 NASCAR All-Star race for the third time in a row, and fans have mixed opinions about it. NWB returned to NASCAR last season with the All-Star race and is set to host the same race this weekend.
Scheduled for May 18, 2025, this event will be the 41st All-Star Race in the sport's history. Previous hosts have included Charlotte Motor Speedway, Atlanta Motor Speedway, Bristol Motor Speedway, and Texas Motor Speedway.
In addition to the All-Star Race, the Craftsman Truck Series will also return to North Wilkesboro in 2025 for a Saturday night showdown before Sunday’s main event.
Fans can expect a new pricing structure for the 2025 weekend, with Sunday grandstand tickets starting at $49, three-day NASCAR ticket packages starting at $95, and five-day packages—including zMAX CARS Tour action—starting at $125.
Kyle Larson dominated the previous year’s edition, sweeping the weekend with victories in both the Wright Brand 250 and the All-Star Race. The Hendrick Motorsports driver is already locked into the 2025 event, a race he will start from the back of the field due to his absence from the Heat race.
Following the announcement, fans took to social media platforms to voice their opinions. While some suggested the race to be made a points race, others demanded the governing body to shift the venue back to previous venues.
One user wrote:
"Should be points race."
"Can we go to a track that isn't boring," questioned a second fan.
Another user added:
"Wanted a points race, but atleast NWB is staying on the schedule!"
"Fix the short track package or else the racing will be terrible again," wrote a fourth user.
"Put the all star race back at Charlotte and make NWB a points race," suggested a fifth fan.
"Better fix the racing first," commented another fan.
Where will NASCAR host the 2025 season finale?
NASCAR has confirmed that Phoenix Raceway will continue to host championship weekend for each of its National Series in 2025. The one-mile oval in Avondale, Arizona has been the destination for the Cup Series, Xfinity Series, and Craftsman Truck Series season finales since 2020.
NBC Sports is set to broadcast the Cup Series season finale on Sunday, November 2, 2025, as part of NASCAR’s brand-new television rights agreement. Phoenix Raceway President Latasha Causey expressed her excitement in a press release following the announcement.
She said:
"Our fans are the heart and soul of Phoenix Raceway, and they create an unforgettable atmosphere for Championship Weekend. They fill the grandstands and hillside and pack the GEICO Gecko Campground, which is nothing short of the best camping experience."
This comes after there were expectations of NASCAR changing the venue of its season finale races. It remains to be seen what the future holds for the Phoenix Raceway beyond 2025.
