A manufacturer is of utmost importance for NASCAR teams, as the championship thoroughly depends on them. However, can a NASCAR team have two different manufacturers simultaneously? The answer is no for the Cup Series. A NASCAR team cannot have two different manufacturers in the competition. However, in the lower series, such as the Xfinity and Truck, the answer is yes. Let's delve deeper.
In the Cup Series, top teams such as Hendrick Motorsports, which fields four cars, have all their cars taken from Chevrolet. On the other hand, Joe Gibbs Racing, which also fields four cars, has Toyotas. It was the same for Stewart-Haas Racing, who had four Ford Mustang Dark Horses in their line-up.
On the other hand, SS-Green Light Racing uses both Ford and Chevrolet as their manufacturers. Joey Gase Motorsports, surprisingly, takes cars from all three notable manufacturers.
The story is similar to JD Motorsports and MBM Motorsports, which have multiple manufacturers. In the Truck Series, Young's Motorsports and Reaume Brothers Racing used the same method, as did Floridian Motorsports.
Manufacturers are the automobile brands whose car teams used to take part in the competition. Over the years, NASCAR saw over a dozen manufacturers take part in the sport. But as of 2024, the number was reduced to three—Chevrolet, Ford, and Toyota.
The classification of manufacturers as per the 2024 NASCAR season
