Justin Marks, co-owner of Trackhouse Racing, recently denied rumors that rapper Pitbull might leave the team. After Marks cleared up the confusion with a tweet, fans reacted with relief. He also promised exciting plans for the team in the coming years.
Trackhouse Racing was founded by Marks in 2021. Later, Armando Christian Pérez (Pitbull), the singer and songwriter, joined the ownership group. The team runs two full-time cars, the No. 1 with Ross Chastain and the No. 99 with Daniel Suárez. They also expanded into MotoGP in 2024 with Aprilia.
The team recently announced a new partnership with Avenue Sports Fund, and last week, rumors began circulating that Pitbull would be leaving the ownership group. However, in a tweet, Marks reassured everyone that Pitbull will remain part of the team.
"Every single element to the stories of my friend and partner @pitbull leaving Trackhouse are materially untrue. Unreliable ‘media’ perpetuating a lie. We have big plans for 2025 and beyond," Justin Marks wrote.
Fans quickly voiced their opinions online, with some hoping that the plans include getting another charter and running Shane Van Gisbergen full-time. One asked the team to do better by driver Ross Chastain, who has had a tough season.
"Can you please do better by Ross," asked one fan.
"As long as those plans include getting another charter and running @shanevg97 full time in the cup series 🙏😁," another user added.
Some fans urged for Daniel Suarez's contract extension.
"OMG YES! PLEASE GET THE EXTENSION WITH DANIEL SIGNED SOON!!!! I LOVE YOUR TEAM AND WANT HIM TO STAY THERE FOR A LONG TIME!" wrote a fan.
"Then get Daniel re-signed!" replied another.
Others were frustrated at the media for spreading false information.
"I love that all this was just lazy reporters who saw a Reddit post and wanted clickbait and used that as a source," a fan wrote.
"Hoping the team can get some more luck this year and I hate when the media spreads lies. I know Pitbull wouldn't do that because he ain't like that," commented yet another.
Trackhouse Racing has had a strong start to life in NASCAR, winning seven Cup Series races in just three years. Shane van Gisbergen, driving the No. 91, won the Chicago Street Race for the team's most recent win. He also won the title of the first modern-era driver to win on their Cup Series debut, and the seventh since 1963. There are plans to expand the team and add van Gisbergen to its full-time lineup next season.
Trackhouse Racing's riders in MotoGP next year
According to reports, Ai Ogura, a top Moto2 rider, will be joining Trackhouse Racing in MotoGP in 2025. He will race a satellite Aprilia RS-GP with Raul Fernandez, who recently signed a new contract with the team. Ogura is currently second in the Moto2 standings with two wins this year.
Ai Ogura commented on rumors about joining Trackhouse Racing in MotoGP for 2025, speaking at Silverstone:
“What I can say now is please wait for the announcement! I’ve got nothing else to say yet,” Ogura said.
“Well, If I go up [to MotoGP], there is two options.” he added.
Another MotoGP rider from Trackhouse Racing, Miguel Oliveira, does not yet have a contract for 2025. According to reports, he is expected to join Prima Pramac Racing.
Although nothing is confirmed yet, the Portuguese rider said he will be wearing different colors this weekend and might reveal more soon.
"I’ll be wearing different colors this weekend," Oliveira said.
