Carson Hocevar shocked everyone with his career-best win at Watkins Glen International. The #77 driver, with Zane Smith and Corey Lajoie, helped the organization make a new record for the first time. The NASCAR rookie is receiving praise from everyone, and everyone wants to know how he achieved the feat.
FrontStretch interviewed the Spire Motorsports driver after his latest win, and the interviewer asked Hocevar about his car performance at the Glen. The driver highlighted that his car was the last available option in the warehouse.
Hocevar described his experience using the word "horrible" and mentioned that they put in a lot of blood and sweat to fix the car "overnight." They fixed parts that were not working and needed repairs, and somehow they put the car together for the race.
"To be in contention for a win this late in the race in my rookie year with this team speaks magnitudes to be able to fix this and build this organization," he said. [01:11]
The fix helped the rookie #77 driver secure third place at Watkins Glen despite having a setback in the qualifying race. He started his race in 29th place 0.861 seconds behind the leader, Joey Logano. Hocevar gradually got a grip on the track, and during the overtime, he even led a lap and finished in third place, avoiding crashes.
