2014 NASCAR Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick's former crew chief Rodney Childers recently earned an honor that helped his career propel. He took to his X account to share the exciting news with his fans and showcased his gratitude to the Tri-County Speedway.
Rodney Childers has worked for the former NASCAR Cup Series team Stewart-Haas Racing for over a decade and has a successful career. He guided the NASCAR legend Kevin Harvick to park his #4 Ford Mustang in victory lane and won the 2014 Cup Series championship. Additionally, he is the most successful active crew chief with 40 wins in the Cup Series.
Rodney Childers was a late-model stock car competitor at the Tri-County Speedway before venturing into NASCAR as a crew chief for Kevin Harvick. He drove on the track during the 1998 season and secured seven wins and 14 top-five finishes in 19 starts.
Reflecting upon the same, Childers recently entered the Hall of Fame Class of 2025 at the Tri-County Speedway with Karen Schulz, Doug Houser, and Tres Wilson. He expressed his gratitude for the great honor via an X post and wrote:
"Super appreciative to be part of the Hall of Fame class at Tri-County Speedway .. my years of racing there changed my life and helped propel me to where I am today. I would like to thank the voting panel and everyone involved. @racetrico @NASCARRegional @NASCAR"
The award ceremony is scheduled for January 25, 2025, and will be the opening part of Track Championship Award night. A few months back, the #4 Ford Mustang crew chief recalled an iconic moment with the driver Kevin Harvick.
Rodney Childers dropped a four-word tribute to Kevin Harvick's decade-old moment
Ten years ago, on November 16, 2024, Kevin Harvick won his first and only Cup Series championship title. In his debut season with Stewart-Haas Racing Harvick won the Ford EcoBoost 400 race at the Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Rodney Childers shared moments from Harvick's memorable achievement to celebrate the occasion. The former SHR driver dominated the 2014 season, securing five wins, 14 top-five finishes, and 20 top-ten finishes. Additionally, he won eight pole positions and led 2,137 laps in 36 starts.
Rodney Childers reminisced about his title win with Harvick and showcased his tribute to him by sharing an X post. He wrote:
"😍😍 A day to remember!!"
Although the duo won only one championship title, they had 37 wins together and came close to winning the championship title in 2015. Kevin Harvick finished second in the 2015 season, losing his title to the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch.
As Stewart Haas Racing ceased its operation after the 2024 season, Rodney Childers signed a multi-year contract with Spire Motorsports starting from the 2025 season.
