Chase Briscoe revealed offering parenting advice to his former Stewart-Haas Racing boss, Tony Stewart, as NASCAR legend embarks on his new journey into fatherhood. Stewart and his wife and NHRA driver Leah Pruett welcomed their firstborn son, Dominic James Stewart, last week.
In an interview with NASCAR reporter Claire B. Lang, Chase Briscoe, a father of twins, reflected on the conversation he had with Stewart about the challenges and joys of parenting during the Phoenix Championship weekend.
Giving him advice on everything from sleepless nights to the challenges of raising a baby, Briscoe said:
“A little bit at Phoenix. I was just telling him how cool it's going to be. I told him the biggest thing too is like he's away from it still. But when they're like six or seven months old, you're going to be like, Come on, just start crawling, like, start walking, do something. But as soon as that happens, it's game over. Like you're going to be like, Man, I missed him.”
Chase Briscoe humorously commented on the practical challenges Stewart might face as home includes a creek.
“I could just put him on the bed and go do something and come back five minutes later, and we're still in the bed. So I don't know how Tony's going baby prove his house. That's the big thing. I mean, he's got a creek running through the middle of it. So I don't; that's a lot of baby gates. But no, I haven't talked too much outside of that,” Briscoe continued.
Chase Briscoe reflects on his emotional connection with Tony Stewart’s SHR team
The 29-year-old Indiana native began his Cup Series career with Stewart-Haas Racing in 2021; since then, he has earned two wins and 30 top-10 finishes in the #14 Ford. As SHR shut down with the conclusion of the 2024 season, Briscoe joined Joe Gibbs Racing to drive retired 2017 NASCAR champion Martin Truex Jr.’s #19 car in the 2025 season.
In the aforementioned interview, Chase Briscoe expressed gratitude for the opportunity to fulfill his childhood dream by driving for the team he cheered for as a fan.
Speaking on what his former team means to him, Briscoe said:
“SHR meant everything. For me, just for one, it was an opportunity to go and really fulfill a dream, something that how many guys in the Cup Series can say they got to drive the car that they physically cheered for as a kid. I don't think any of the other drivers in the Cup Series can say that they get it… You know that's been an incredible place for the last seven years to be able to call home.”
