Joe Gibbs Racing has recently announced that Chase Briscoe will drive the number 19 Toyota Camry XSE starting in 2025. However, when asked if the opportunity had come as a relief, Briscoe explained that he was not focusing on the Joe Gibbs Racing deal as of now.
Chase Briscoe currently drives the number 14 Ford Mustang Dark Horse for Stewart-Haas Racing. As Stewart-Haas Racing is expected to exit the arena of the NASCAR Cup Series after almost two decades of operation, finding a new team was necessary for the 29-year-old speedster.
However, co-owner Gene Haas has announced that he would retain one of the four SHR charters and form his own Cup Series team: Haas Factory Team.
As far as Chase Briscoe's plans for 2024 are concerned, getting the #14 Mustang in the playoffs comes at the top of the list. Reflecting on the same, he told Frontstretch,
"There's relief to know that you're secure going forward, but to be honest, I'm not really focused on JGR right now. I'm trying to get the #14 car in the playoffs. For me, that's the main focus. Come November, we'll start worrying about JGR but right now, for sure, it's (Joe Gibbs Racing)."
Nevertheless, Chase Briscoe is elated to be able to carry forward the longtime partnership between the #19 team and its primary sponsor, Bass Pro Shops.
"It's super cool," Briscoe exclaimed. "When you think of the iconic American brand, like Bass Pro is easily at the top...excited to get to know them a bit more, and get to hang out with them and just to drive a race car with Bass Pro Shops."
As reported by On3, Bass Pro Shops has been Martin Truex Jr.'s sponsor for the last 21 years. Furthermore, the outdoor sporting goods company has also been an ally of Joe Gibbs Racing for the last 6 years.
Chase Briscoe gets the green flag from his soon-to-be teammate at JGR
Chase Briscoe has been around for seven years in NASCAR and for the last four years, he has been piloting a Cup car. Therefore, his would-be teammate at JGR, Ty Gibbs, considers him as someone to look up to.
Excited about Chase Briscoe joining the team, Gibbs said via fayobserver.com,
"I think Chase is going to be a really good teammate to me and to our organisation. I’m glad that he’s going to be able to join us, and excited for the future for them."
"Chase has got a lot of experience, so I think his feedback’s going to be very helpful. Hopefully we can build a good team around where we have a good relationship, and excited for him to be here," the #54 Monster Energy driver added.
Briscoe currently sits 16th in the NASCAR Cup Series standings and 18th in the playoff picture, with 405 points to his name. His next race is the Ally 400 at Nashville Superspeedway on Sunday. Briscoe qualified 19th and will start the race alongside fellow racer and Trackhouse Racing sensation, Ross Chastain.
