Stewart-Haas Racing's #14 driver, Chase Briscoe, recently commented on teammate Josh Berry's new livery ahead of NASCAR's return to the Indianapolis Oval. Berry's #4 Ford will feature a special paint scheme in collaboration with WNBA star Caitlin Clark.
Caitlin Clark and Josh Berry are in their rookie seasons in the top divisions of their respective sports. The new livery's paint scheme is black and red, with yellow accents. An image of Clark shooting a hoop will be featured on the hood of the Ford Mustang Dark Horse.
Here's a look at the design:
In a recent interview, Briscoe expressed his feelings on SHR's collaboration with Clark. Here's what he said:
"Caitlyn obviously has done a ton for just the sport of basketball especially, you know Indiana Fever games are sold out every single night now, so yeah I'm jealous. I don't think she's coming, I was trying to make sure I could meet her." [14:12]
"It's a cool weekend you know, to have you know some type of Indiana Sports in the race right, and having Caitlyn on the hood of that car is really cool," Briscoe added. [14:33]
With Stewart-Haas Racing's shutting shop at the end of the 2024 season, Chase Briscoe, with help from future teammate Christopher Bell, signed a multi-year deal with Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) starting in 2025. Briscoe will pilot JGR's #19 Toyota Camry XSE in the Cup Series.
Meanwhile, Josh Berry has secured a seat with Wood Brothers Racing(WBR) for next season. Initially, there was speculation that Chase Briscoe was WBR's top pick. However, with Briscoe's commitment to JGR, WBR signed Berry, their second favorite candidate.
Briscoe, the #14 driver, ahead of the Brickyard 400, stands in P16 in the driver standings. He has secured two top-five and six top-ten finishes thus far but is yet to grab a victory. As the playoffs are right around the corner, Briscoe would be aiming for a strong performance at Indianapolis.
"Means a lot to me" - Chase Briscoe sheds light on his first Cup Race at the Indianapolis Oval
Chase Briscoe joined Stewart-Haas Racing in 2021, replacing Clint Bowyer as the #14 driver in the Cup Series. Since beginning his Cup career, Briscoe has not raced at the Indianapolis Oval as NASCAR scheduled the Cup race in Indianapolis at the road course instead.
NASCAR's return to the Brickyard 400 marks Briscoe's first and last time at the oval, behind the wheel of SHR's #14 Ford, as SHR plans on exiting the sport. Here's what he said about the opportunity to race at the Indianapolis Oval (via Racer.com):
"I’m excited. It’s going to be cool. The fact that I get to run a Brickyard 400 is really special, and to do it with how everything has played out with Stewart-Haas Racing shutting down means a lot to me getting to do it at least once in the #14 car."
Chase Briscoe has managed to secure one win in his Cup Series career, which came at Phoenix Raceway in the Ruoff Mortgage 500 in 2022. A victory at the Indianapolis Oval could be a historic milestone, not just for Stewart-Haas Racing, but for Briscoe's NASCAR career as well.
