NASCAR driver Chase Briscoe recently delved into the key difference between Stewart-Haas Racing and Joe Gibbs Racing. Briscoe is set to make his JGR debut this season after moving from SHR following the discontinuation of Tony Stewart's Cup team.
Chase Briscoe was the first driver to announce his new team following the disfunction of Stewart-Haas Racing. The 30-year-old, a former Ford No. 14 driver for the Tony Stewart-owned outfit, confirmed midway through last season that he is set to replace the outgoing and retiring Martin Truex Jr. from Joe Gibbs Racing.
As he prepares for this significant step in his racing career, Briscoe recently shed light on the cultural differences between the two organizations. When asked by a fan the same question on the r/NASCAR subreddit, the Indiana native revealed:
"I'd say the biggest thing is just how Coach is extremely involved in the day to day and how he's always at the shop."
Chase Briscoe has been working with his new team ever since the conclusion of the 2024 campaign. He also revealed his future with Mahindra, his primary sponsor during his time at SHR, saying:
"Currently no plans to have Mahindra on the car unfortunately."
Mahindra had been a key partner for SHR’s No. 14 Ford Mustang over the past three seasons. However, the brand will not continue with Briscoe's No. 19 Toyota Camry as he moves to JGR.
Chase Briscoe expresses his feelings about Christopher Bell accidentally revealing his JGR move
Dubbed "the worst kept secret in NASCAR," Briscoe's move to Joe Gibbs Racing was accidentally leaked by his now-teammate Christopher Bell. The announcement of Briscoe’s new team was not made through an official press release or a strategic media campaign but rather through a slip-up during a press conference at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
When discussing the team’s future, Bell inadvertently mentioned that “Chase” would be the next driver of the No. 19 car. Reflecting on the amusing incident, Briscoe recently revealed his thoughts on an episode of Dinner With Racers podcast. He said (via The Express):
"That whole thing is pretty funny. This reporter comes up to me (in New Hampshire), and he's like, 'What do you think about what Christopher said earlier?' I’m like, 'I don’t know what you're talking about.' He goes, 'Oh, he said you're going to JGR next year.' He showed me the clip, and it was really funny."
He added:
"It was definitely one of those things where you just have to laugh. Christopher felt so bad, but it's all good. Now I just give him a hard time about it every chance I get."
Chase Briscoe secured the second victory of his NASCAR Cup Series career in the 2024 Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway. The win helped him secure a playoff spot as he finished the season in 14th position.
