After Kevin Harvick, Chase Elliott has recently announced his plans to compete in Friday’s Busch Light 100 at Five Flags Speedway. Both drivers are now slated to compete in a field of 22 cars for the third event of the Deep South Crane Blizzard Series. Elliott boasts two victories in the prestigious Snowball Derby and five wins in the Blizzard Series.
Currently navigating his 10th season in the NASCAR Cup Series, Elliott sits in second place in the driver standings. Although the #9 has only one race this season at Texas, he has secured six top-5 finishes and two top-10s across 18 starts.
Elliott's last race at Five Flags ended with a strong third-place finish at the 53rd Annual Snowball Derby in 2020. With prior victories in the Snowball Derby in 2011 and 2015, Elliott will return to a familiar track.
Chase Elliott took to Instagram to announce his upcoming race, posting:
"Back at it! Late Model Racing Five Flags June 28 8 PM EST"
Elliott will compete against a lineup of Super Late Model drivers in a joint event featuring the ASA Southern Super Series and the Deep South Crane Blizzard Series. These series not only fight for points championships but also provide provisional starting positions for the Snowball Derby, held every December at Five Flags Speedway. The race is a key highlight of the year, and both series contribute to the buildup towards this grand finale.
In the 2024 season, Chase Elliott has already taken part in the Super Late Model circuit, competing in events with the ASA STARS National Tour at New Smyrna Speedway and Hickory Motor Speedway.
Joining him and Kevin Harvick at the upcoming Super Late Model race will be Stephen Nasse, who is currently leading the Blizzard Series points standings, and Casey Roderick, who tops the ASA Southern Super Series leaderboard. Other notable drivers lining up include Bubba Pollard, Cole Butcher, Jacob Gomes, Jeremy Doss, and Matt Craig.
Chase Elliott's recent singular achievement
Chase Elliott has set a unique record in the NASCAR Cup series despite a P18 finish at the USA Today 301 in New Hampshire. As noted by Trey Ryan:
"Chase Elliott is the first driver in 33 years to start a NASCAR Cup Series season with 18 straight top 20 finishes (Ricky Rudd - 1991) He’s only the 4th driver to do it in the entirety of the Modern Era (1972 - Present)," Ryan shared on his X handle.
The consistency has seen Elliott finishing in the top 20 in every race this season, even after a clash with Joey Logano's car at New Hampshire, where Logano's brake lockup caused both cars significant damage in track position.
Next up for Elliott is the Late Model Racing at Five Flags Speedway on Friday, followed by a return to the Nashville track—a venue where his average finish is 14.7. In three starts at Nashville, Elliott has secured one victory and another top-5 finish.
