A few weeks ago, Chase Elliott and other NASCAR drivers shared their responses to a few mean tweets directed at them. The four NASCAR stars, Chase Elliott, Denny Hamlin, Kyle Larson, and Martin Truex Jr., handled the fan criticism extremely well.
One tweet labeled Chase Elliott as “the most boring man on earth.” Elliott responded by thanking the person.
“I appreciate that...Thank you, it means a lot,” Elliot said.
Another tweet said, “I hope Chase Elliott loses tonight. I hate that guy.”
Elliott took it in stride and said that it was not the nicest thing, but it "could be worse.”
Denny Hamlin also responded to a few tweets. One tweet said, “Denny Hamlin is more hated than Kyle Busch, and I'm all for it.”
Hamlin joked, “Well, Kyle taught me well.”
Another tweet criticized the 43-year-old's driving skills.
“My opinion is you’re [Hamlin] really not that good of a driver after racing ten thousand races,” the user wrote.
Hamlin shot back by saying that he might not be the best driver, but he’s still better than the critic.
"Well I might not be that good of a driver but certainly better than you are," Hamlin said.
Kyle Larson also joined the conversation, addressing a tweet about his height. “I always think Kyle Larson is so short but then I remember that he and I are almost the exact same height and weight," the tweet read.
“I am short...Five-six is pretty short but it's taller than some drivers,” Larson said in response.
Lastly, Martin Truex Jr. responded to some critical tweets with a sense of humor. In response to a user stating that his races are "the most boring three hours of my life," Truex admitted that they often dominate races, but that's just part of the sport.
"A lot of the races we win, I would admit we've dominated. But I mean, what are you supposed to do, even in the midst of a rivalry," Truex Jr. said.
He then replied to a tweet that said, "I hate Martin Truex Jr." by saying,
""This comes from Kyle....Well, Kyle, I've never met you, and I don't hate you, so what's your problem? That's a good one. Too funny."
Chase Elliott aiming for maiden Michigan win
Chase Elliott, the No. 9 Chevrolet driver for Hendrick Motorsports, is trying to break a NASCAR streak at Michigan International Speedway. Ford has won the last nine races at its home racetrack.
Elliott has a strong track record, with three second-place finishes and an average finish of 10.15 over 13 races. However, he has never won a race in Michigan. The 28-year-old is eager to win at Michigan, believing it would be a significant victory for both himself and his team.
So far this season, Elliott has registered 12 top-10 finishes and seven top-five finishes, including a win at Texas Motor Speedway in April. He is currently third in the points table, just six points behind his Hendrick Motorsports teammate Kyle Larson, who is in the lead.
