While talking to Whiskey Riff, Chase Elliott revealed the name of one of his favorite artists lately- Megan Moroney. He said while people might not anticipate seeing him as her fan, after he heard one of her songs, Elliott became a fan of her.
Chase Elliott is having a much stronger season this year compared to 2023. He has already won one race and holds the second spot in the driver standings. The #9 driver has also finished seven top-5s and nine top-10s in the first 19 starts.
However, when he's not behind the wheel, Chase Elliott enjoys tuning into music from some of his favorite artists. He's a big fan of Eric Church. Back in 2022, when Church waved a Chase Elliott flag during his performance of "Talladega" in North Carolina, Chase shared it on X, posting:
"When @MartySmithESPN FaceTime’s you the 🐐 holding up the proper flag tonight in Charlotte…"
In 2023, Chase Elliott even had the chance to sit down with Eric Church for an interview conducted by Lindsay Czarniak. During their conversation, the duo discussed their respective careers, and Chase shared what Church’s music means to him.
But, when he was recently asked about other artists he enjoys besides Eric Church, Chase Elliott mentioned Megan Moroney's name. He showed his newfound admiration for her music, highlighting her as another favorite. He said:
"Here lately it’s been Megan Moroney. I’m sure you probably wouldn’t see me or look at me and think that, but I really enjoy her music lately… I heard one of her songs, stumbled across it, and liked it. It’s always good when you find somebody that has been around for a little while that has some songs established that you had not discovered yet, a little bit of a longer road to travel down and find the new music.”
Even in June 2024, when Elliott and Ryan Blaney teamed up to participate in Sirius XM's 'Guest DJ' campaign, the #9 HMS driver included songs of Megan Moroney in his playlist. During the event, they had the opportunity to share their favorite music artists and songs, explaining why each selection holds special meaning for them.
Elliott took over the DJ booth on The Highway channel, where he curated a playlist featuring tracks from Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen, Eric Church, and Megan Moroney.
Chase Elliott becomes the first driver after Ricky Rudd to set a unique record
At 28 years old, Chase Elliott has become the first driver since Ricky Rudd in 1991 to secure top-20 finishes in the first 19 races of the Cup series. His performances this season even made him reach the top of the drivers' standings table for a week.
Last year, Elliott was not able to win a single race, because of which he missed out on the playoffs. But 2024 has marked a turnaround. Despite finishing P18 at the Nashville Ally 400 race, his consistent presence in the top 20 has placed him among an elite group.
He has become only the fourth driver in NASCAR history to achieve top-20 finishes in the first 19 races of a season.
