Kenny Wallace and Danielle Trotta recently got together to discuss how NASCAR drivers have not been doing their part to popularize the sport, singling out Chase Elliott. They spoke about Elliott, one of NASCAR's fan favorite and popular drivers currently, and his lack of efforts to create the hype around the sport.

Trotta, the former Race Hub co-host, was the latest guest on Wallace's "Kenny Conversation", where they discussed Elliott's shyness when it comes to promoting the sport. While Trotta agreed that the #9 driver might be doing his part, she felt that it was not enough at the end of the day.

"I know where Chase Elliott can take us, and I feel like there's a responsibility on all of us to do our part, "Danielle Trotta said. "Now, he may feel like, maybe he is disconnected. He feels like he is doing his part. He feels like he attends all the sponsor things and he does all the off track things, then he wants to go home and you know kind of live inside his private world, and that's kind of sacred to him." "I don't know if the Hendrick guys, I don't know if he wants to do it. It's like, you're taking a whole lot. You have the Championship, and the wins, and the money, and the jet, and the lifestyle, and the airplane. The whole thing. You know, I'm taking from the sport, I'm trying to give back, I'm not saying he's not, but I feel like if you're a star, you're a face, you gotta give a lot so we can all continue to grow." (1:58-2:28)

Following this, she went on to explain how other NASCAR drivers came out and talk about the sport, attend podcasts, and help promote the sport in multiple ways, adding that it's something Elliot doesn't do.

"I feel like Chase just doesn't go after those opportunities the way a lot of other guys do," she explained. (3:38-3:43)

Prior to this, Kenny Wallace added that Chase Elliott's fan base has been shrinking. Speaking of it, the former NASCAR driver revealed how he saw fans in Bristol who earlier cheered for the Hendrick Motorsports man, now 'boo' him.

Chase Elliott has recently opened up on his upcoming target in NASCAR. The #9 driver, in a recent interview with Fox Sports' Bob Pokrass, the #9 driver stated that his ultimate aim is to win, if not stay very close to a win.

"Just win, being in contention to win," Elliot said. "Winning would be great, but if you can't win, being in contention to win is a very close second to just overall performance and where I feel like we need to be and should be and can be."

Chase Elliott currently stands in the third position on the NASCAR regular season standings with 805 points. He trails his teammate Kyle Larson by one point and Tyler Reddick of 23XI Racing by 18 points for the regular season championship. All three drivers have qualified for the NASCAR playoff.
