NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Christian Eckes is rumored to move up to the Xfinity Series for the upcoming season. Eckes has competed in the Truck Series for the past seven years.
Eckes pilots the #19 Chevrolet for McNally-Hilgemann Racing, competing full-time in the Truck Series. Since his debut, Eckes has secured eight race wins, with his first win coming at the 2021 Victoria's Voice Foundation 200 during his stint with ThorSport Racing. The 23-year-old also has an impressive record in the ARCA Menards Series, where he secured seven wins in 46 starts.
As NASCAR's silly season heats up, speculation surrounding Eckes' future intensifies. The #19 driver has proven his mettle in the Truck Series and would be looking for an upgrade in 2025.
Fox Sports journalist Bob Pockrass has hinted at Eckes moving to the Xfinity Series following the end of this season.
Kaulig Racing has reportedly been in contact with Christian Eckes. Meanwhile, speculation suggests that Trackhouse Racing may acquire a third charter for the 2025 season, paving the way for Xfinity driver Shane van Gisbergen to move up to the Cup Series. This potential move would leave an open seat in the Xfinity Series, with Eckes emerging as the favorite to replace van Gisbergen.
Eckes is currently P1 in the Truck Series driver standings, with 673 points to his credit. The McNally-Hilgemann driver has secured three wins this season, with his most recent victory coming at Nashville Superspeedway. Additionally, Eckes has secured 14 top-ten finishes, 9 top-five finishes, and two pole positions.
With a strong average finish of 6.2 in the Truck Series this season, Eckes has positioned himself well for a potential ascent through the NASCAR ranks.
"Anything is possible" - Christian Eckes shares thoughts on close battle with Corey Heim
Christian Eckes is currently leading the points table in the Truck Series. Tricon Garage's #11 driver, Corey Heim is not that far behind, with only 50 points separating the two.
Eckes and Heim have been engaged in a hard-fought battle in the 2024 season thus far, exemplifying the intense competition NASCAR is renowned for. Although Heim has secured two more wins than Eckes, he hasn't been as consistent as the 23-year-old.
In a post-race interview at Pocono, Eckes was asked to share his thoughts on his ongoing rivalry with Heim. Here's what he said (via Frontstretch)
"For the next two weeks? Sure. Everything changes once you get into the playoffs, and everything resets, anything is possible. It's me versus him(Heim) right now, for sure. Potentially in the playoffs too, but you never know what can happen," [01:07]
Corey Heim claimed victory in the CRC Brakleen 165 at Pocono, with Eckes rounding out the podium in third place.
