NASCAR driver Christopher Bell won the prestigious Golden Driller, holding off Kyle Larson’s Non-Wing Outlaw in the 2025 Tulsa Shootout. Following his dominant victory, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver let his thoughts known on his entry in the upcoming Chili Bowl Nationals.
Also known as the “Super Bowl of midget racing”, the prestigious event will be held at Oklahoma’s SageNet Center this year. Notably, Bell has won the event before on three back-to-back occasions (2017, 2018, 2019).
The NASCAR Cup Series regular will partner with Rheem Racing and Toyota for his entry in this year’s event. Rheem Racing unveiled his ride through a recent post on X, formerly known as Twitter. Reflecting on the same, Bell wrote,
“Let’s go 👊"
Notably, Christopher Bell is not the only full-time NASCAR driver in this year’s lineup, as Kyle Busch, Ty Gibbs, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., J.J. Yeley, Josh Bilicki, and two-time Chili Bowl winner Kyle Larson will also compete. Fans can watch the NASCAR stalwarts race their midgets exclusively on FloRacing.
The coverage begins Monday, January 13, with the qualifying round, whereas the championship finale is scheduled for Saturday, January 18. As per reports, 371 drivers have signed up for this year’s race. Back in 2022, the fans witnessed an all-time record for Chili Bowl entry with 381 contenders making the roster.
Christopher Bell expresses his gratitude to boss Joe Gibbs following his victorious dirt return
Earlier, Joe Gibbs Racing had a policy of keeping its drivers from racing in any non-NASCAR race. This included dirt races as well. But that is not the case anymore.
Joe Gibbs Racing has revamped its policy recently, and, as per the newest rules, the North Carolina-based outfit will allow its drivers to take part in dirt races in the future. Needless to say, Christopher Bell, a talented dirt racer himself, was overjoyed.
On bagging the win at the 2025 Tulsa Shootout, Bell exclaimed,
“I’ve got four words, thank you Joe Gibbs!”
“Oh my gosh, man. I live for moments like that man. Driving these race cars, especially here at Tulsa, there’s nothing else like it. Maybe after today, Kyle (Larson) will actually like micros and want to come back,” Bell added .
Since their teenage days, Christopher Bell and Kyle Larson have been rivals in dirt tracks all over the country. Therefore, it will be interesting to see them race against each other in the Chili Bowl Nationals.
With that said, the duo will soon resume racing in NASCAR as well. The first race of the year, although not a point-paying one, will be held at the historic Bowman Gray Stadium on February 2. Fans can watch Bell and Larson race from 8 pm ET onwards only on FOX. Radio updates will be available on MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
