NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Cole Custer and his wife Kari have welcomed a baby boy into their family. Custer announced the birth of their first child, a son named Callahan Brian Custer, on social media during NASCAR’s two-week Olympic break.
Custer and his wife were ecstatic at the birth of their son, as exciting news adds another joyful chapter to their lives. Sharing the news on becoming a father in a post on X on Sunday, Custer wrote:
“Callahan Brian Custer Very thankful to welcome a healthy baby boy and my wife Kari was amazing through the whole process! It’s been a great Olympic Break!”
The photos in the post show a healthy newborn, covered in a blanket, with the name of his son on one side. However, earlier, ahead of the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series season, Custer had announced on social media in February that they were expecting their first child.
Cole Custer met Kari through a mutual friend in 2019 when he competes full-time in the Xfinity Series. The couple began dating, and after three years of relationship, they tied the knot in January 2023, the same year he won his maiden NASCAR Xfinity Series championship.
The last few weeks have been great for Custer. He won his first race of the season at Pocono Raceway on July 13, followed by a runner-up finish at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on July 20. Through 20 races, the defending NASCAR Xfinity champion has scored nine top-five and 16 top-10 finishes and is currently leading the Xfinity Series points table with 761 points.
Cole Custer returning to NASCAR Cup Series in 2025
The 26-year-old California native will make his return to the Cup Series in 2025 as the driver of the #41 Ford for Haas Factory Team. After spending three seasons in the Cup Series from 2020 to 2022, Custer was demoted to the Xfinity Series.
On signing a contract with Haas Factory Team for the 2025 Cup Series, Custer said in a press release:
“I’ve grown up with Haas Automation, and having their name on my firesuit is something I take a tremendous amount of pride in. I’m driven to win for Gene and everyone at Haas Automation because they’ve been such a big part of my career.”
Cole Custer has made 117 starts in NASCAR’s top-level series. He won his maiden Cup race at the Quaker State 400 at Kentucky Speedway in 2020. He also holds 12 top-10 finishes and a pole.
