Kelley Earnhardt Miller recently touched upon her relationship with her brother, Dale Earnhardt Jr., and how she stuck with her brother amid tough times. They are both the daughter and son of the late NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt and his second wife, Brenda Gee.
Earnhardt and Gee filed for divorce shortly after Earnhardt Jr. was born. They were living with Gee initially, but after a fire destroyed their house completely, the former handed over the custody of the two children to Earnhardt.
While both Earnhardt Miller and Dale Earnhardt Jr. stayed with their father for some time, it was the elder sister who took care of her younger brother most of the time. Recalling those hard, yet meaningful days, Kelley Earnhardt Miller recently opened up about it in the MotorVate Podcast's Episode 2: Boss Lady.
"Dale (Dale Earnhardt Jr.) and I, we have a very unique relationship, a brother and sister," Earnhardt Miller said. "The fact that we from really age like four, five or six had to lean on each other for everything. Everything you know between divorced parents, new step parents, parents that live six hours away from each other all of those different kind of dynamics really forced us for this bond."
"Particularly me being the older one, you know. Doing things, acting as the mom, and giving and mentoring and showing and all those kind of things, and I was always the person that Dale would kind of run so, coming to work for him in that situation, that too of losing our dad, was huge." Kelley King Earnhardt Miller was born on August 28, 1972, to Earnhardt and Gee in Kannapolis, North Carolina. She was married to Raymond Walter Holm Jr. on June 29, 2001. But they divorced three years later.
Earnhardt Miller then married Jimmy Elledge, and they filed for divorce as well. With Elledge, she gave birth to two daughters. She is currently married to former NASCAR driver L.W. Miller and has a child.
Kelley Earnhardt Miller reflected on her and Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s Xfinity Series win with JR Motorsport
Kelley Earnhardt Miller and Dale Earnhardt Jr. run JR Motorsports. While she is the co-owner of the team, along with her brother, she also serves as the CEO of the racing organization. JR Motorsport achieved a milestone this year with Justin Allgaier, and here's what Earnhardt Miller had to say about it.
"I really felt like it was meant to be. This really was our year," she told SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90, "The restarts for Justin were fantabulous. Every time I would watch the restart going down into the dogleg there after the green flag, you'd see them come over in (turn) three and he would be what seemed like a disaster from the dogleg around there and then all of a sudden he would be in the top three or four and I was like, Oh my gosh, this is crazy!"
Allgaier won the 2024 Xfinity Series championship after he took the checkered flag at the Championship 4 race at Phoenix. He came home ahead of Cole Custer, AJ Allmendinger, and Austin Hill.
