Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his wife Amy Earnhardt "laughed their butts off" after watching the hilarious mischief of their elder daughter, Isla. The JR Motorsports co-owner and driver competed at the Food City 300, and during the post-race interview, Isla was seen making hysterical gestures in the background.
The two-time Xfinity Series champion registered his maiden run this year, as part of the package deal with the long-serving sponsors- Hellmann's and Unilever. Junior was the 13th fastest in the qualifying but suffered early trouble due to radio issues. It led to impartial communication with spotter TJ Majors, and the 49-year-old fell to a P19 finish in stage 1.
Nonetheless, the #88 Chevy driver surged to a ninth-place finish in Stage 2 and secured a seventh-place finish in the final stage after leading one lap in the 300-lap race.
After wrapping his debacle, Dale Earnhardt Jr. talked about his race with a CW reporter, his elder daughter, Isla was video-bombing with her hilarious gags. However, it was later in the night, when Junior and Amy saw the video of their daughter’s pranks, prompting Earnhard Jr. to claim he and his wife couldn’t control their laughter.
"Amy and I are sitting on the couch right now and I'm seeing this for the first time. Laughing our butts off 😂🤣😂," Junior wrote.
Before Amy Earnhardt exited the 'World's Fastest Half-Mile' oval with her husband, she posted a snapshot of their co-created vodka brand bottle, straight from Bristol's concrete.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. survived a slew of unfavorable odds to become the best JRM finisher
The 24-time Xfinity Series race winner marked his 147th race at the 0.533-mile track. But radio issues, with several other unfavorable odds, plagued his run. While pitting under caution to solve the radio problem, Dale Earnhardt Jr. was caught speeding in the pitlane and received a penalty.
However, the crisis remained unresolved, and Junior pitted again on Lap 57 to change the helmet and try to fix the problem. A few laps later, he again entered the pitlane to change the wire harness. While switching helmets, the #88 Chevy driver lost his glasses and the team returned them at the next stop on Lap 156.
Moreover, when the radio fell on the floorboard, the volume knob was set to the highest volume, prompting Dale Earnhardt Jr. to ask TJ Majors to speak softly. The 49-year-old had no clear communication with the spotter for nearly 120 laps.
Still, Junior netted a seventh-place finish and outperformed all JRM teammates. Sam Mayer finished ninth, followed by Sammy Smith in 15th. Justin Allgaier settled in 30th place. The NASCAR Hall of Famer also gave an insider tour of his chaotic race and detailed how everything transpired against him in the cockpit.
Dale Jr. is not planning to return to the Xfinity Series next year. However, fans could witness his return if his presence would benefit JRM's sponsorship.
