NASCAR legend and JR Motorsports owner Dale Earnhardt Jr. has been on a philanthropic journey with his foundation, The Dale Jr. Foundation. The foundation recently raised over $80,000 for the Nationwide Children's Hospital.
TDJF was founded in 2017 and has supported several groups and charities since then. Their goal is to leave a positive impact on the lives of children across the United States. Meanwhile, Earnhardt Jr. raced in the NASCAR Xfinity Series held on Saturday, 20 September, and secured seventh place.
JR Motorsports owner faced several setbacks with his radio, causing him a lot of time in the pit and even a penalty. Despite that, he managed to enter the top 10, surprising his fans. Additionally, TDJF decided to auction Earnhardt Jr.'s race-worn gloves to raise funds for children.
Joseph Srigley shared an X post and gave details of the gloves on auction. Earnhardt Jr.'s gloves were auctioned for $15,435 while Kyle Larson's gloves fetched $5,250. Next on the list was William Byron's gathering of $2,712.15, followed by Martin Truex Jr.'s gloves for $2,362.50.
Cole Custer also made it to the list with the highest bid of $2,205, and the next was SVG with $2,142. Chase Elliott, Joey Logano, and Carson Hocevar were in the top 10 highest bids. No glove was auctioned for less than $400. This gesture by Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s foundation raised over $80,000 for a good cause.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. will be taking a hiatus from the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series
Before the Food City 300 race on Saturday, 20 September, Dale Earnhardt Jr. made a significant decision about his racing future. In an interview, he confirmed that he will not be racing in the 2025 Xfinity Series. He further shed light on the reason for his absence from racing:
"I have to remind fans and people that follow us that I run this race and have ran this race over the last several years because of the big benefit that it is to JR Motorsports," Earnhardt Jr. said. "It’s a package deal where Hellman’s and Unilever has put their logos on Justin’s [Allgaier] car and it’s helped fill out that car."
This may be one of the reasons for the high bids on Earnhdart Jr.'s gloves price at the auction. Junior made one thing clear from the start: he may return to racing in 2026. Even in a post-race interview, Earnhardt Jr. said:
"No. I mean, the thing is, is, like, I've been doing this with Hellman's and Unilever, great partner, been doing this. Well, I'll run one race, and they'll, they'll do about, you know, six or eight car eight races on the seven next year. They said, hey, you know we're gonna do the races. Don't need you to run. I said, Man, I just might sit out intentionally."
Junior mentioned that he is going to miss racing in the upcoming season, but for now, he will focus on his broadcasting duties. He retired from full-time racing in 2017 and since then, made occasional appearances in the Xfinity series.
