Dale Earnhardt Jr. recently made a massive announcement. In honor of reaching a significant milestone on his Instagram account, the NASCAR Hall of Famer announced a major giveaway on social media.
Earnhardt Jr. recently crossed one million followers on Instagram, becoming only the third NASCAR personality to achieve the feat. To celebrate the achievement, he has decided to give away $1,000,000 from the Dale Jr. Foundation to different charities across the country. The cities were selected on the basis of where the majority of his followers are from.
Those cities are Charlotte, Mooresville, Columbus, Houston, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Los Angeles, Nashville, New York City, and Phoenix.
"To celebrate reaching 1M Instagram followers we are going to donate $1 million to charities across the United States. @tdjf has identified a charity located in each of the top-10 cities where my followers reside, with each organization receiving $100,000. It’s exciting times for the foundation and none of this would be possible without the support from the fans and followers. To have the opportunity to give back in this way is truly special, and it’s all due to the tremendous support of the foundation," Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s post read.
Speaking about this initiative, Earnhardt Jr.'s sister, Kelley Earnhardt Miller, who is also the Vice President of TDJF, claimed that such charity work is only possible because of the generous donations and hard work of many people.
“This is only possible because of the generous donations and hard work of so many people," she said, according to the official website of the foundation.
Miller stated that she is "extremely proud to see" Earnhardt Jr. use his platform and foundation to make an impact on numerous worthy causes across the United States. In 2023 alone, the Dale Jr. Foundation reportedly raised $1.3 million, which Earnhardt-Miller remarked as "a tremendous year of giving."
Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s following remains unparalleled despite being retired
Dale Earnhardt Jr. continues to be one of, if not the most, followed figures in the sport, even though he has been retired since the end of 2017. Along with his 1 million followers on Instagram, Junior also has 2.5 million followers on X (formerly known as Twitter.)
To put that into perspective, NASCAR's current most popular driver, Chase Elliott, has 492,000 followers on Instagram and 930,400 followers on X. It's worth mentioning that in terms of Instagram followers, Dale Earnhardt Jr. is only behind Hailie Deegan (1.6 million), and Tony Breidinger (2.7 million).
Hence, it's pretty clear that despite his retirement, which was over 6 years ago, Earnhardt Jr. is still one of the biggest voices in NASCAR. He has the attention, the following, and the influence. What matters most, though, is what he does with them. Take his recent initiatives, which involved giving away $1 million to commemorate reaching one million Instagram followers.
