Dale Earnhardt Jr. is reportedly obsessed with LEGOs thanks to William Byron. So much so, that he keeps adding them to his collection, the highlight being a 4-foot-long Titanic LEGO set. However, Junior is not the only one obsessed with LEGOs. Stewart-Haas Racing driver Noah Gragson, who also has a knack for building LEGOs, recently challenged Dale Earnhardt Jr. on who could finish building the Titanic Lego set first.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. is the son of the legendary Dale Earnhardt Sr., a 7-time Cup Series champion, often regarded as the "intimidator". Earnhardt Jr. himself is a two-time NASCAR Xfinity Series champion.
In a recent episode of the "Dale Junior Download", Earnhardt Jr. mentioned that although he had started with the Titanic Lego set, currently, it is far from complete.
"I bought the Titanic LEGO set. We got it started, we had a little update last week. I left it at the house. It's gonna stay there. I just feel like it's just gonna stay there," he said.
Meanwhile, Noah Gragson, who is currently working on his 'Home Alone' LEGO set, challenged Junior, saying,
"Let's see who can finish first. $1 bet. You have a head start too since I haven't started mine yet. Building home alone house currently."
Interestingly, Junior revealed that his obsession with LEGOs came to exist after he had started talking to William Byron about the same. William Byron, who drives the No. 24 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Hendrick Motorsports, is equally obsessed with Legos.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. playfully blamed William Byron for getting him addicted to LEGOs
Dale Earnhardt Jr. said that it was William Byron who got him into his new hobby of purchasing all the LEGO sets that he could find in the market. He then exclaimed that the new hobby was costing him quite some money. Needless to say, Dale Earnhardt Jr. did not stop at just one Titanic LEGO set.
"But I bought some more sets blaming Byron for all of this. He's costing me on these Lego sets," Junior said.
The Mooresville resident then started naming the Lego sets that he had already ordered from eBay.
"We got the Millennium Falcon coming, which is kind of like the second largest set next to the Titanic. A lot of pieces...thousands," Junior said. "The Batman; the animates series set which is kind of like the shadow box of the Batman cave ; it's really neat. The Ghostbusters car, The Back to the Future car and then this retro 50's style radio."
"So Byron you're an a**hole, but I love these LEGOs man!" the 49-year Hall of Famer added, blaming Byron for getting him addicted to this new hobby.
While Dale Jr. struggles to make time out of his busy schedule to possibly win the battle of LEGOs against Noah Gragson, the Cup Series field prepares to return to Pocono Raceway for the 21st race of the year; the HighPoint.com 400 on Sunday.
