Dale Earnhardt Jr. often reflects on his father Dale Earnhardt Sr.’s influence on him and his incredible talent. On the “The Dale Jr. Download,” Dale Jr., with his father’s best friend Donnie Rives, shared an interesting story that illustrated the extraordinary observational skills of the seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion.

There are a lot of things that could impress anyone about “The Intimidator,” but Dale Jr. mentioned one thing that impressed him the most about his father, which is his exceptional eyesight.

During the podcast, Dale Earnhardt Jr. marveled at his father's acute eyesight and ability to notice the smallest details. Recalling an instance, Dale said:

"One of the things that I always really was impressed by was how well he tracked deer.
"There's been a couple of times where I was lucky enough to be with him in the woods and I mean a speck, a tiny speck of blood, like 10 foot from the last speck of blood, and he could track it. He could see all that on the ground, which always was impressive to me."

“It's just like fighter jet pilots”: Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s guest comments on Dale Sr.’s exceptional eyesight

Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s father had a great NASCAR career with seven NASCAR Cup Series championships. He has amassed 97 wins across NASCAR’s top-two tier series over a two-decade-long career.

In the aforementioned podcast, Dale Jr.’s guest and his father’s best friend Donnie Rives drew a parallel between Dale Sr.’s eyesight and that of a “fighter jet pilots.” Rives said:

“What made him so good, especially driving, was his eyesight. It's just like fighter jet pilots,”

Rives recalled a hunting incident when they were driving at night and Earnhardt Sr. could spot a deer in the distance that was invisible to him. Rives said:

“We could be driving down the road anywhere at night, look at that deer on the other.
"I said, I can't even see the woods, what are you talking about a deer, you know, you don't see that? I said, hell, I don't see it. I think he, and I got along so good because neither one of us would ever tell each other a lie.”

Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s father tragically died on February 18, 2001, after being involved in a wreck on the final lap of the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway.

Rives discussed Dale Sr.'s untold stories and his experience with legendary NASCAR driver in the Dale Jr.’ show.
