Dale Earnhardt Jr. is a diehard fan of the Washington Commanders, unlike his cousins, who support the Dallas Cowboys. Following the 23-19 victory delivered by the Commanders over the Cowboys in yesterday’s NFL game, the NASCAR veteran joked that he was going to call his cousins up and gloat about it.
Dale Jr. is arguably one of the biggest ambassadors of NASCAR the sport has ever seen. During his career in the Cup Series, the man recorded 26 victories (including two Daytona 500s), 17 of which came driving for Dale Earnhardt Inc. and the rest with Hendrick Motorsports.
Dale Jr. is also a two-time series champion at the Xfinity level. Today, Earnhardt Jr. is an entrepreneur, NASCAR analyst, broadcaster, team owner, and part-time race car driver. He also owns Dirty Mo Media, an entertainment company known for backing NASCAR podcasts like Actions Detrimental, Door Bumper Clear, and, of course, The Dale Jr. Download.
Last December, when the Commanders emerged victorious against the Eagles, Dale Earnhardt Jr. tweeted,
“Hey @Commanders. Hell of a job today. Proud fan.”
This time around, he wrote,
“Now texting my cousins Tony Jr and Danny Jr who are Dallas fans. Good win @Commanders.”
Dale Jr. retired from full-time racing in 2017, following which he signed up for a part-time schedule that allowed him to race at least once every year under the banner of JR Motorsports, the NASCAR Xfinity Series team that he owns alongside his sister Kelley Earnhardt and Rick Hendrick of Hendrick Motorsports.
That being said, Dale Earnhardt Jr. will not run any NASCAR-sanctioned race in 2025. Instead, he will pilot the iconic No. 8 Budweiser Chevy in select Late Model races. His most recent outing with the No. 8 brought him a P28 finish in the South Carolina 400 at Florence Motor Speedway in November 2024.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. drops teaser for iRacing return
In one of his recent posts on X, Dale Earnhardt Jr. confirmed that he would be returning to iRacing soon. Although not a lot is known about his upcoming virtual racing venture, it is expected to help raise money for charity.
The initiative is the result of a collaboration between The Dale Jr. Foundation, iRacing, and his vodka brand High Rock Vodka. Announcing the same, Dale Earnhardt Jr. wrote,
“Coming to @iRacing. Will share more details soon.”
Dale Earnhardt Jr. is known for his frequent philanthropic activities. Oftentimes, he auctions pieces of rare racing memorabilia to gather funds for his foundation that supports underprivileged youth.
Back in 2019, when the world was battling the COVID-19 pandemic, the NASCAR Hall of Famer took part in the iRacing Pro Invitational Series that helped raise a whopping $200,000 for charity. According to a 2022 report, the Dale Jr. Foundation caters to the needs of more than 300 charities all over the country.
