In an interview with Jeff Gluck held in 2017, Amy Earnhardt opened up about the time her husband Dale Earnhardt Jr. threw her "under the bus." After racing for 17 years, Dale Earnhardt Jr. retired in 2017.

But being a professional racer, his love for racing never died, and in 2017, he was on the list of drivers who qualified for the 2018 Advance Auto Parts Clash race, which led his wife to face backlash on the internet.

Amy Earnhardt highlighted that Dale Jr. asked her over and over again to race in the 2018 Advance Auto Parts Clash, but she was concerned for him after he faced concussions during an entire half-season of 2016 while driving for Hendrick Motorsports.

She wrote in the tweet:

"Considering his struggles last fall with his injury, we are very blessed that he is now healthy & able to enjoy his final season...and hopefully many years beyond racing. So my answer is simple. It's not worth the risk of his health."

Amy Earnhardt mentioned that Junior even told the owner of Hendrick Motorsports, Rick Hendrick, that it was up to her to let him race. She added:

"So after a lot of heckling on social media, especially that week — he must of had an interview where it came up again because that day in particular, I had a lot of responses in my feed — I just got tired of listening to it, so I’d figure I’d put a squash to it."

Amy Earnhardt further highlighted that she faced a lot of negative feedback on her decision because Dale Earnhardt Jr. was talking about it publicly, but she stood by it.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. wanted to spend time with his wife Amy Earnhardt and kids on his 50th birthday

Dale Earnhardt Jr. has missed a couple of episodes of his podcast Dale Jr. Download, and the former NASCAR Cup Series driver Kenny Wallace is filling him while he is away on vacation for his 50th birthday. Instead of having a big party on his birthday, Dale Jr. went on a camping trip with his family.

The part-time NASCAR Xfinity Series driver is known for his love of parting and visiting clubs, which led to the opening of his own club, 'Whisky River.' But this time he celebrated the occasion in an entirely different way. He shared an X post and wrote:

"Ok. Deal. I turn 50 this year, and instead of a big party, I’ve decided to create some memories instead. Camping with the family is on that list."

Dale Earnhardt Jr. was looking to buy his fifth camper RV for his wife Amy Earnhardt, and two kids, Isla Rose and Nicole Lorraine, in February 2024 and posted an X post.

The CEO of Camping World replied to the post that if Dale Jr. buys one, he'll give away one RV to a lucky person.

The former NASCAR driver bought a 2024 Keystone Cougar 364BHL Midnight Edition RV a month later for his family trip.
