Former NASCAR and IndyCar driver Danica Patrick recently covered the Spanish Grand Prix by donning a chic white dress with a pair of elegant black loafers. Patrick covered the Formula 1 race in Barcelona this weekend alongside the crew members of the Sky Sports F1 team.
The 2008 Indy Japan 300 winner Patrick made quite a fashion statement and turned heads at the 10th race of the F1 season in Spain with her outfit, where the Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen emerged victorious.
Patrick shared trackside snippets and also mentioned future endeavors with the broadcasting team on Instagram. She wrote:
"Adios @skysportsf1 crew! Be back at the track in Austin later this year and finish up with 4 more races! (Austin, Mexico City, Vegas, Abu Dhabi) 🏁"
The former Stewart-Haas Racing driver also made an impression with a peach outfit at the Spanish GP practice session. Patrick wrote in an Instagram post:
"First time to Barcelona! The crew at @skysportsf1 that makes any city a good time. 😉 I also reported trackside during practice which was pretty fun and educational. 🤓"
"People’s consuming habits change" - Danica Patrick once talked about NASCAR's viewership
Former NASCAR Cup Series driver Danica Patrick once talked about the declining NASCAR viewership in the US and suggested a few changes that might pull more fans into the sport.
Patrick, who last competed in the Cup Series at the 2018 Daytona 500, shared her thoughts in a 2023 conversation with awfulannouncing.com. She said:
"I sat down actually with one really important person within NASCAR, one of the things I said was, ‘The races are way, way too long.' People’s consuming habits change because people can’t keep their attention span long enough."
"So when you’re asking them to sit in front of a television for five or six hours, with pre race and the race and everything, that’s a lot of time to expect someone to be attentive. Sports all have their ebbs and flows," Patrick added.
Patrick, the first woman to start the esteemed Daytona 500 race from pole, also talked about the big names that are not a part of the sport anymore and have impacted the health of NASCAR's viewership. She said:
"NASCAR has suffered a lot of losses when it comes to their personalities with a lot of the big famous names being gone. There was Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Tony Stewart and myself and Carl Edwards."
However, NASCAR's inaugural Chicago street course race in 2023 saw a rise in ratings and became the most-watched Cup Series race on NBC Sports in the past six years. With potential new street courses and the new media rights deal, NASCAR is looking to draw more attention to the sport.
NASCAR is next heading to the Nashville Superspeedway for the 19th race of the Cup Series season on June 30.
