Former NASCAR driver Danica Patrick voted for the first time in the ongoing 2024 US elections. The Wisconsin-born racer explained why she voted for Republican candidate Donald Trump on social media.

Patrick, a trailblazer for female racers, rose to fame in her debut IndyCar season in 2005. She led her first-ever Indianapolis 500 race for 19 laps, eventually finishing in fourth position. She then moved to NASCAR in 2013. She became the first female driver in the sport's history to grab pole position as well as lead in the legendary Daytona 500 race. After racing for over a decade, she retired from full-time racing in 2018.

Since her retirement, Patrick has been an analyst for NBC and a Pundit for Sky Sports F1. Apart from racing, she has also been actively involved in politics. In the past few months, she has campaigned for former US president Trump. She posted to X, explaining why she voted for the first time and chose Trump over Democrat Kamala Harris.

"I voted today, for the first time. I made a rule for myself that if I didn’t vote I could not have an opinion about the outcome, because I didn’t earn that right. Not this time. I voted for @realdonaldtrump and I can’t wait to have him make America great again!" Danica Patrick wrote.

Patrick was a part of the Sky Sports Formula 1 team during the US Grand Prix weekend.

Former NASCAR and IndyCar racer Danica Patrick was a part of the Sky Sports F1 team during the United States Grand Prix weekend. She was seen on the grid and in the pit lane during both the Sprint as well as Sunday race (October 20).

Patrick expressed her excitement about being at the Circuit Of The Americas for the Formula 1 race weekend via Instagram. Here's a look at the post, captioned:

"Wonderful to be back at the track with my @skysportsf1 fam! Fun weekend in Austin, with 3 more left this season! Mexico City, Vegas, and Abu Dhabi. 🏎️"

While there are five more races to go for the season finale, Patrick has only mentioned three (Mexico City, Vegas, and Abu Dhabi). With the 2024 US elections in the closing stage, she is likely to miss out on the race weekends in Brazil and Qatar.
