Former NASCAR driver Danica Patrick shared her unfiltered reason for getting an American flag tattoo on her lower back. She explained that the tattoo showed her love for her country after living abroad for years.

Patrick is a former American professional racing driver who competed in NASCAR in the 2010s. She moved to England for three years (1998 to 2001) to race open-wheel cars but returned to the US after competing in Ford Vauxhall and Formula Ford.

During the AmericaFest conference, Patrick spoke about the criticism she received for saying she loves her country.

"Don't you guys find it amazing that you can say, 'I love this country,' and it means you're Republican. That you can wear an American flag, and it means you're Republican."
"Why aren't these things American?" she added.

Patrick, who campaigned for Donald Trump during the recent 2024 election, then shared tattooing an American flag on her back to express her patriotism, saying:

"I've lived in other countries, and America is amazing. I lived in England for three years while I was racing and came back and immediately got an American flag tattooed on my back."

Patrick was one of the speakers at the AmericaFest conference, an annual event deemed the biggest conservative movement in the country. Trump also attended the event and delivered his first rally speech since winning the election.

Outside politics, Danica Patrick is still involved in the motorsports business. While her racing days may be over, she works as a commentator for Sky Sports' F1 coverage. The former NASCAR driver also took part in the latest season of the Netflix series Formula 1: Drive to Survive as a pundit.

"Woke is bullshit": Danica Patrick backs President-elect Donald Trump's remarks against 'woke'

Danica Patrick supported President-elect Donald Trump's remarks against 'woke' during the AmericaFest conference. Trump vowed to stop 'woke', saying it is destroying the country and it is bullshit.

The President-elect said:

"And woke has to stop because along with everything else, it’s destroying our country. We’re going to stop woke. Woke... woke is bullshit."

In response, the former NASCAR driver wrote on X:

"Best line of the weekend!!!!!! [...] Woke is bullshit, buh-bye. 👋🏼"

Woke is used to refer to the awareness of social and political issues including racism and LGBT hate. Trump shared his administration's plans on 'woke' at the AmericaFest conference, saying:

"We're going to stop the transgender lunacy. I will sign executive orders to end child sexual mutilation. Get transgender out of the military and out of our [schools]. We will keep men out of women's sports [...] Under the Trump administration, it will be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders, male and female."

Speaking of which, Danica Patrick shared her thoughts on men competing against women in sports. As a female racing athlete herself, she argued on Blaze Media's broadcast that no men should ever be playing women's sports considering men are bigger and stronger due to higher testosterone levels.
