Denny Hamlin recently shared that one thing, that he's mastered so well, which could earn him an Olympic gold medal is his routine. Hamlin is in the middle of his 20th year in the Cup Series and is one of the most consistent drivers on the track. But that consistency comes to him with a stringent routine and strict discipline.
Denny Hamlin has been with the Joe Gibbs Racing team since the beginning of his career and has been one of the most consistent performers lately. But despite that, the #11 racing star has not been able to win any championships so far. But for now, all the drivers, including Denny Hamlin, are enjoying a two-week break owing to the Paris Olympics.
Taking that time to connect with the fans, in a lighthearted moment shared by Xfinity Racing, drivers discussed quirky skills that could earn them a spot on the Olympic podium. Denny Hamlin talked about his well-honed daily regimen, suggesting that if discipline were an Olympic sport, he’d be in contention for gold.
"The one activity I can get a gold in would be compartmentalize- my time, my efforts, and all the different things I have gone through," Hamlin said.
Ty Dillon of Richard Childress Racing, and grandson of the team's owner, confidently picked "Pickleball" as his potential Olympic sport, believing he has what it takes to compete. Alex Bowman, with a touch of humor, suggested that if there were an Olympic event for "drinking coffee," he'd be a top contender, claiming he's "pretty good at that."
Josh Berry chimed in with a domestic twist, asserting:
"I think I could get a gold medal in laundry."
Meanwhile, Martin Truex Jr boasted about his culinary skills, stating:
"Grilling. I am good at grilling competition."
Chase Briscoe took a more heartfelt approach, saying with sincerity,
"Let's go being a dad."
Denny Hamlin shares his go-to Mario Kart character
Mario Kart remains a crowd favorite, capturing the hearts of many, including top NASCAR drivers who recently shared their preferred characters from the beloved video game. In a fun social media interaction with the Instagram page Chat Us Up, several drivers disclosed their favorite Mushroom Kingdom personas.
Denny Hamlin opted for the game's namesake, explaining:
"I'm pretty basic. I'm sticking with Mario, I mean they name a game after you [Mario], surely you gotta have the fastest car."
Meanwhile, the reigning champ, Ryan Blaney, confessed his preference for Princess Peach, saying:
"Usually Peach, It's always fun messing people up with peach. That's usually my go to."
Other drivers like William Byron, Daniel Suarez, and Zane Smith are fans of Yoshi, Mario's loyal companion. Chase Briscoe, alongside Carson Hocevar and Chris Buescher, chose Toad as their favorite.
Recently, during NASCAR's two-week break, Denny Hamlin was also seen enjoying some downtime with his 23XI Racing colleagues at Tyler Reddick's wedding. As the season resumes, all eyes will be on Hamlin to see if he can win more races to secure a better spot in the playoffs.
