Denny Hamlin has called out NASCAR for not taking action on rookie Carson Hocevar. The Spire Motorsports driver took out rival Harrison Burton under the yellow flag, and the officials are yet to give their take on the matter.

The Ally 400 at the Nashville Superspeedway became a hot topic after the 300-lap run witnessed a 31-lap extension. Despite a tough challenge among the frontrunners, drivers succumbed to fuel exhaustion and couldn't help but see Joey Logano seal the win as he mastered the game of fuel conservation.

Several eyes were on the Team Penske driver's fuel tank as it churned 110 laps, which many fans found difficult to digest. But Carson Hocevar also attracted scrutiny for his collision with Harrison Burton. During the yellow flag run on Lap 242, Hocevar allegedly retaliated after Burton "blocked him once" on the 1.33-mile oval.

The Spire Motorsports driver is allegedly infamous for wrecking out his rivals on the track. Before entering the Cup Scene, Carson Hocevar became notorious for crashing in the Truck Series. He was slapped with a two-lap penalty after wrecking Taylor Gray last year at the Martinsville Speedway.

So far, NASCAR hasn't taken any steps regarding Hocevar's wreck and Denny Hamlin isn't happy. Moreover, the officials didn't spare Layne Riggs during the recent Truck race when he collided with Stefan Parsons and received a two-lap penalty.

Denny Hamlin called out NASCAR and urged them "to do something" about the crash.

"I'm gonna call on NASCAR here, they need to do something to Carson. They don't need to suspend him or anything like that but they need to dig into his pocket a little bit. I think that anytime someone goes before a judge, they always take into your past history," Hamlin said via Dirty Mo Media on YouTube (at 34:40).
"We've seen this happen when he [Hocevar] was in the Truck Series and then I think he right rear hooked someone [Gray] under caution at Martinsville. Carson goes through these moments where he'll be fine and then all of a sudden, he'll just lose it," he added.

Denny Hamlin drew parallels with Austin Hill's under-caution wreck as Hocevar has walked free for now

Denny Hamlin revealed that a few weeks ago at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, Austin Hill pulled a similar move under the yellow flag and wrecked the 2023 Xfinity Series champion, Cole Custer.

With 18 laps remaining until the checkered flag dropped, Hill and Custer battled for the fifth place but ended up trading paint on Turn 4. However, the Richard Childress Racing retaliated on the next lap and spun out Custer. As a result, Austin Hill was docked 25 driver points with a $25000 fine for violating Section 4.4B of NASCAR’s Member Code of Conduct.

Per the Section, wrecking and spinning another vehicle and actions that compromise the safety of an event or pose a threat to the safety of competitors, officials, spectators, or others, are liable for a penalty.

Even though Hill was heavily penalized, the incident involving Carson Hocevar is yet to see a verdict from NASCAR. Denny Hamlin brought the RCR driver's incident into the picture and drew parallels with Hocevar's incident.

"They did it to Austin Hill for crashing someone [Cole Custer] under caution at Charlotte. It was 25 points. You got to do something. Austin Hill has the rap sheet that Carson does," Hamlin said (35:43).

According to Bob Pockrass, NASCAR hasn't let go of the matter and will investigate the crash and the rookie is at odds of being penalized.
