Jeff Burton accomplished a lot over the course of his 20-year full-time NASCAR Cup Series career. While the South Boston, Virginia native never won a Cup Series championship, his racing resume is still one of the more impressive the sport has seen in recent memory.

Burton accumulated 21 Cup Series victories, 134 top fives, and 254 top 10s in 695 career starts. The now-broadcaster for NBC NASCAR posted a career-best third in the points standings back in 2000 when he piloted the #99 Ford owned by Jack Roush.

The bulk of Burton's early career was spent behind the wheel at Roush Racing from 1996-2003. Burton won 17 races stretching from 1997-2001 and finished no worse than 10th in the points standings. Midway through the 2003 campaign, Burton moved to Richard Childress Racing to pilot the #31 Chevrolet, where he'd spend the remainder of his full-time Cup Series career.

Burton won four races at RCR, including at Charlotte Motor Speedway in 2008, which would end up being the driver's final career victory. That same year, Burton posted a sixth-place finish in the points standings, his best with RCR. He stepped away from full-time Cup Series competition in 2013. However, Burton made appearances for Michael Waltrip Racing and Stewart-Haas Racing on a part-time basis in 2014.

Burton was also one of the most successful drivers in the Xfinity Series as he won 27 career races, which stands as the ninth-most of all-time. His last victory in the series came at the Homestead-Miami Speedway in 2007. Burton moved to the TV side of the sport ahead of 2015 when he joined the NBC Sports broadcast team, a position he still holds today.

Jeff Burton's son, Harrison, carrying on the Burton legacy in NASCAR

Jeff Burton's days behind the wheel might be behind him, but that isn't the case with his son, Harrison Burton. The 24-year-old wrapped up his third full-time season in the NASCAR Cup Series in 2024 and his third and final with Wood Brothers Racing.

Burton went out with a bang, however, as he captured his first career Cup Series win with Wood Brothers Racing at the Daytona International Speedway, wheeling his #21 Ford past Kyle Busch's #8 Chevrolet on the final lap of the race. The win secured Burton a spot in the Cup Series playoffs, but he failed to make it out of the first round.

In three seasons, Harrison Burton registered six top 10 finishes and two top fives. Prior to that, he competed in the Xfinity Series full-time in 2020 and 2021 behind the wheel of the #20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota. Burton tallied four wins in 2020 and finished eighth in the points standings in both seasons. He's returning to the series in 2025 to pilot the #15 AM Racing Ford.
