After battling in NASCAR for 15 years, co-owners Tony Stewart and Gene Haas revealed Stewart-Haas Racing's shutdown of operations by the end of the 2024 season. The duo is eyeing to sell or lease the charters, which hold immense value for any Cup Series team looking to guarantee their spot in every points-paying race and hence a chunk of the prize purse as well.

Co-owner Gene Haas boasts a net worth of $250 million (via Celebrity Net Worth) and charter sales could potentially skyrocket his exit earnings from the team he nurtured for over a decade. The charter system was introduced in 2016, and since then, its value has soared. Spire Motorsports' purchase of charter from Live Fast Motorsports for a staggering $40 million last year is the most recent example of it.

According to motorsports journalist Adam Stern, the 69x Cup Series-winning team could sell their charters for "$20M-$30M apiece." With that, if SHR decides to trade their charters, the team could rake in a ballpark amount of $100 million (via X):

The revenue distribution terms between Tony Stewart and Gene Haas haven't been decided yet, but when the former joined forces with Haas in 2009, he did so for a 50% stake in the team. If there's no percentage change among the duo, then Gene Haas is expected to take home around $50 million and his new net worth will be $300 million.

Gene Haas' partner Tony Stewart's net worth is expected to close in on the $150 million mark if the charter sale comes to fruition

In addition to being the co-owner of the team, Tony Stewart used to tame the high-octane Chevrolet on the asphalt, when he joined the team in 2009 for a 50% stake. To date, SHR has bagged two NASCAR Cup Series championships; the first was brought in by Stewart in 2011, while the second title was collected by Kevin Harvick in 2014.

Between 2018 and 2020, the North Carolina-based outfit clinched 26 race wins but their pace of domination slowed drastically from the 2021 season. The team could manage just four wins, with the last triumphant moment savored by Kevin Harvick at the 2022 Cup Series race on the Richmond Raceway.

Moreover, after veteran drivers like Harvick and Aric Almirola departed, big sponsors like Anheuser-Busch, Smithfield, and Hunt Brothers Pizza parted ways with the team. All the contributing factors prompted the co-owners to shut down the team's operations.

Per Celebrity Net Worth, Tony Stewart has a net worth of $90 million and the sale of charters is sure to make his net worth cross the $100 million mark. If the duo maintains their 50% share from the proceeds and one charter is sold for a median amount of $25 million, then Stewart could add $50 million to his net worth and boost it to $140 million.
