Kevin Harvick has responded to Alex Bowman's reply after he posted a clip of himself drifting around a track. This was the latter's reply to Harvick's former comments about his celebration after the Chicago win.
Earlier in Chicago this month, during the Grant Park 165, Bowman managed to put his #48 Chevrolet in the victory lane. During the event, he attempted to drift the Chevy Camaro ZL1, but it did not turn out as well as he would have liked. NASCAR veteran Kevin Harvick was one of the people to criticize it, saying:
"He tried to do the drifting thing, which I didn't really like. You're drifting around like somebody else."
In response to this, the Hendrick Motorsports driver uploaded a clip of him drifting around at a test track. He was seen pulling out perfect burnouts as he made his way around.
Harvick said he was thrilled with Bowman's response when he saw this clip during his own podcast.
"You know what I love about this and this is you know if you're gonna drift don't spin out and hit the wall but I love the fact that I had no idea that Alex Bowman did this," he said (at 0:15). "I also love the fact that he fired back. We can have fun. I can critique you. You can critique me. Feel free to fire back because I'm here to just cover what I see and that to me is a poor drifting attempt."
He also mentioned that he indeed likes Bowman and asked him not to take anything personally, adding that he was only trying to have fun.
"I do like Alex Bowman. No I know. I think he did. I think they do a great job but don't take it personally Alex. We're having fun."
"Does this mean we’re going drifting": Alex Bowman's recent reply to Kevin Harvick
Kevin Harvick's clip of asking Bowman "not to take anything personally" was circulated on social media. Not long afterward, the latter responded to the X post by asking Harvick's if they would go drifting together.
"Does this mean we’re going drifting @KevinHarvick"
Alex Bowman has been racing rather competitively this season. Out of the first 22 races, he finished within the top 10 in twelve events. His win at Chicago locked his place in the playoffs. Currently, he stands in 9th place in the playoff standings.
